Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was not happy with the “treatment” his team is receiving from the league, as he tweeted his disappointment after 3rd fine enforced by the NBA on the Mavs bench. With the stakes being ever so high in WC Finals, he surely feels that his team is being hard-done.
When you are an owner of any particular NBA team and are very passionate, and energetic about its performance, you would love to have a similar kind of bench to share the excitement. Dallas Mavericks does have a very ‘active’ bench in that department when it comes to celebrating and cheering the on-court performances. Owner Mark Cuban is also very energetic and spontaneous when it comes to his Mavs. But recent actions from the league left him fuming as NBA slapped yet another charge – 3rd in this month for “over the limit” celebrations by the bench.
Cuban reacted sarcastically in his 2 separate tweets as he finds the decision “biased”. Dallas is trailing by 2 games in as many games played against Golden State Warriors in the western conference finals. Now that games shifting to the American Airlines Arena, home fans’ support would be additional support to the Mavs.

For the third time in the ongoing playoffs, the NBA handed out quite a notable fine to the Mark Cuban franchise. The NBA announced on Sunday that it issued a hefty $100,000 fine to the Mavericks for “continuing to violate league rules regarding team bench decorum.”
Though any specific incidence was not highlighted by the league, it did note that multiple players and even a coaching staff member “were on or encroaching upon the playing court” on “multiple occasions.” Sadly for recipients of the charges, the fine amount is getting doubled every time they are penalized.
Mavs owner Mark Cuban took to Twitter to highlight hypocrisy from the league office on its bench decorum regulations. He added a compilation YouTube video of the best celebratory moments from the Brooklyn Nets bench during the 2018-2019 season, where the league did not issue a substantial fine.
The NBA announced on Sunday that it issued a hefty $100,000 fine to the Mavericks for “continuing to violate league rules regarding team bench decorum.”
The league did not pinpoint any such incident that occurred during Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals series between the Mavs and Golden State Warriors, although it did note that multiple players and even a coaching staff member “were on or encroaching upon the playing court” on “multiple occasions.”
After adding up all the fines, the Mavs will now have to pay a staggering $175,000 for violating the league’s bench decorum rules.
Dallas Mavericks bench players fined in 2022 semifinal series
On the previous 2 occasions, Mavs bench players were penalized in the semi-final series against the Phoenix suns. Dallas bench did their best to encourage on-court stars and that caught League operation’s attention. Byron Spruell, president of league operations. made the fine announcement during the series against Phoenix Suns.
“On multiple occasions, several players and a member of the coaching staff stood for an extended period in the Mavericks’ team bench area, stood away from the team bench, and were on or encroaching upon the playing court during game action,” the NBA started in Wednesday’s news release.
The NBA also announced the fine amount was a reflection of “prior infractions of team bench decorum rules” in this year’s playoffs. Though Cuban tried his best to put forward his views in front of the world, the Mavs bench needs to be careful henceforth to avoid any further actions from the league.
