Game 3 between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies saw much anticipation from the NBA fraternity. The altercations in Game 2 between LeBron James and Dillon Brooks created a charged-up atmosphere for the fans in Los Angeles. Unsurprisingly, the Lakers walked into the game with no intentions of playing soft.
The Lakers took an NBA record lead against the Grizzlies in the first quarter. On the flip side, the Grizzlies registered the lowest-scoring quarter by any team this season. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 35-9, with the Lakers in front by a whopping 26 points. The Grizzlies, with the return of Ja Morant, were expected to put up a tough competition. However, contrary to their fight in Game 2, the Grizzlies made the wrong record books as they gave the Lakers a 2-1 lead after Game 3
The Memphis Grizzlies were expected to give the Lakers a hard time after their Game 2 win. Playing exceptionally well without their front-running player in Morant, Memphis seemed to be in command just before tipoff. However, a charged Lakers roster wasn’t going to give the visitors an easy win, especially with Dillon Brooks and LeBron James chirping at each other during the pre-game routine.
Although the Grizzlies made an impressive comeback after their horrendous first quarter, the initial blow was too big. Ja Morant’s staggering 45-point game went in vain as the Grizzlies fell to Los Angeles 101-111. The home team now had a 2-1 series lead and will look to make it 3-1 by playing Game 4 at home again.
What does the Playoffs scenario look like for both teams after Game 3?

Although the Lakers have picked up a 2-1 lead, the series is far from over. The Memphis Grizzlies will look to build on Morant’s impressive performance tonight and come back in Game 4. Moreover, the ejection of Dillon Brooks would certainly be an area they would look to address. It would be safe to assume that if Brooks hadn’t been ejected, the Grizzlies could’ve had a better chance at winning the game.
Taking a look beyond the series, the question remains, who would the winner play in the Conference Semi-Finals? According to the NBA Playoffs bracket, the winner of this series will play the winner of the series between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings. Although the Lakers-Grizzlies series is exciting in its own right, the battle between the Kings and the Warriors is probably the most followed series at the time.
It will be interesting to see how this series pans out. Although it is still the first round, the NBA playoffs have kicked off in amazing spirit. We’ll have to wait and watch to see which team triumphs and win this year’s championship. For now, hard predictions on any team would be nearly impossible as the talent and drive in every team reeks high.
