Draymond Green’s Game 1 versus the Memphis Grizzlies will forever be remembered for one of the most controversial foul calls ever. For what seemed like an accidental or unintentional grab and tug to the floor, the player was heavily criticized by many and supported by some. The player was given a flagrant 2 and ejected from the game.

Green opened up about the situation in a press conference meeting and he was visibly upset over it. “I will never change the way I play basketball. It’s gotten me this far. It’s gotten three championships, four All-Stars, Defensive Player of the Year. I’m not going to change now,” said the player. He has been the biggest on defense for the Golden State Warriors adding to his incredibly high basketball IQ.

After falling victim to the slam to the ground, Brandon Clarke spoke on Draymond Green’s ejection saying, “He’s been known for flagrant fouls in his career. I’ve watched him on TV my whole life it feels like, so I wasn’t really shocked. It’s not shocking that he did that. It’s something he’s done in the past.” He also said,” I don’t really like to flop or nothing, but he did hit me pretty hard twice when I saw it again.”

Head Coach Steve Kerr expressed that the entire team was very upset over the unnecessary call made by referee Kane Fitzgerald. Green still believes the call was only given based on his reputation of being physical on defense. However, the Warriors were able to win the game with their surprising defensive plays stopping Ja Morant from getting the final bucket.

It is clear that the Warriors are much more skilled and experienced in a playoff situation rather than the Grizzlies. Despite this being one of few playoff appearances together, the Memphis team has never gotten this deep until seven years ago. The Warriors have made seven straight playoff appearances including 5 straight title runs.

Draymond Green recently opened up saying that the Grizzlies are much more “comfortable” to play in the post-season and not the regular stretch. Skip Bayless took to Twitter calling out Ja Morant and his team saying,”[all caps] Hey, Ja, did you and your guys see Draymond on TNT before the Heat Game? He talked about how he’s even more “comfortable” playing Memphis in the playoffs than the regular season because the Warriors are just so much more experienced than you guys. Just in case you missed it…”
