Metta Sandiford-Artest, formerly known as a Metta World Peace, was a very controversial figure in the NBA. The former player has had an extremely abnormal history with changing names or “aliases” multiple times. At one point he almost named himself “The Pandas Friend.”

The former 2010 Los Angeles Lakers Champion was a fight, literally sometimes. He was known for his suspicious nature of encouraging peculiar conversation such as the time he publicly flirted with a reporter. While speaking about his coach’s strict fitness policy, he was asked if he was out of shape. The player replied, “If I showed you my abs right now, you’d probably leave your husband.”

NBA players have had their scandalous moments and Metta’s may have the mildest of them all. Recently, Boston Celtics Head Coach Ime Udoka was caught having an affair with a female co-worker. The coach was also simultaneously in a relationship for almost a decade with Actress Nia Long.

Unlike some of his aliases would suggest, Metta Sandiford-Artest was never the humble, soft spoken person he may show out to be now. He was known for his brutal brawls leage wide and almost knocked the lights out of former MVP James Harden.

But what affected his career was the infamous Malice at the Palace that took place in 2004. Unfortunately this issue even concluded title hopes for Reggie Miller who was the closest he could have ever been to winning one. Artest was averaging 24.6 points per game that season and the Indiana Pacers could have gone a long way.

Unfortunately, it all boiled down to Metta Sandiford-Artest getting suspended for 73 games thus running Miller and the Pacers off track from the playoffs. This was due to a massive brawl that broke out between Artest, Ben Wallace, several Detroit Pistons associates and fans too.
