“He’s not happy in Brooklyn, he will always be second tier” Michael Che reveals why Kevin Durant joining Brooklyn Nets rather than New York Knicks
Kevin Durant
With Kevin Durant moving to the Brooklyn Nets, leaving behind his star-studded and solid Golden State warriors, many expected KD to write his own legacy joining hands with Kyrie Irving. However, the reality was in-turn different as the Nets have failed miserably in the playoffs and on the other hand, the Warriors have gone onto seal yet another NBA Finals berth after beating Mavericks in Game 5.
This resulted in Michael Che suggesting that Kevin Durant made a huge mistake by joining the Brooklyn Nets rather than New York Knicks. During a recent appearance on The Bill Simmons podcast, comedian Michael Che voiced his belief that Durant made a mistake by joining the Nets rather than the New York Knicks.
Should Kevin Durant have joined Knicks rather than Nets?
“Durant made a mistake by not coming to New York, for whatever reason. It could have been worth it because he’s not happy in Brooklyn. He’ll always be second tier. Kyrie, I don’t know what he was thinking. I don’t know why he wouldn’t come to the Knicks.”
“I remember I saw Blake [Griffin] at a party, and we were talking about it, and I was like, ‘The Knicks?’ And he’s just looking at me like, ‘You’re an idiot. The Knicks are not going to do anything!’ But, you know, whatever!”
KD has been a force to reckon with whenever he has locked horns against the Knicks. Michael Che reveals his confusion upon Knicks are not able to secure a significant scorer which could lead them back to greatness. That being said, New York Knicks with Durant and some of the other players that followed him to Brooklyn could make the Knicks much better. But the team could have also managed to be worse than the current Nets.
With Durant and Kyrie being heavily trolled and criticized for not being able to replicate the same previous success they have tasted separately. Will we witness the end of their short-yet-different duo-ship? Or are these two marquee scorers going to answer all their critics in the upcoming 2022-23 season?
