“You FATSO” Michael Jordan fat shamed ‘powerless Bulls forward’ only because he couldn’t deliver as per his size

Stacey King and Michael Jordan
NBA legend Michael Jordan was known to be a ‘bad guy’ throughout his career in the NBA league. He often got into tiffs with his opponent players and went hard on his teammates. One such incident was when he fat-shamed his Chicago Bulls teammate Stacey King.

Michael Jordan said, “You ever hear of a guy, six-eleven maybe and two hundred sixty pounds, a guy big and fat like that and he can’t get but two rebounds, if that many, running all over the damn court and he gets two rebounds? A big guy like that and he gets one rebound.” He added, “Can’t even stick his ass into people and get more than that…Big, fat, fat guy. One rebound in three games. Power forward. Maybe they should call it powerless forward.”
Stacey King was drafted in 1989 but certainly did not play up to the standards of a top 6 pick. He was a below-average defender. While he was a functional big man, King was better suited to being a backup in the NBA. Stacey King grabbed merely one rebound over three games, so Michael called him out for not being able to deliver as per his outer looks.
Kenny Smith says Michael Jordan was just like everyone else

NBA great Michael Jordan was once an average basketball player, according to Kenny Smith, who was Jordan’s college teammate at North Carolina. Kenny stated that the legendary North Carolina head coach Dean Smith sparked that flame in Jordan. Dean Smith had various ways to push his players to the limit. Kenny Smith stated, “That’s why I really think all of that competitive nature comes from coach Smith. The way he psychologically got us to go at each other as well as the other team, to keep us both sharp. All of those things I hear Michael says he does, I’m like ‘Yeah you got that from coach Smith.
He added, “You didn’t think of these things. You weren’t that competitive. You were just like everyone else.’ But coach Smith kind of put the seed in him.” After his junior season, Michael registered for the NBA draft and was picked by the Chicago Bulls. Meanwhile, Kenny Smith stayed for four years at UNC before entering the league as the sixth overall pick in the 1987 NBA Draft.
