Michael Jordan is selling his majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets after 13 years. He started his run with the franchise as an executive and minority owner in 2006 and in 2010 acquired the majority stake. Now after a decade of struggles and no good success, Michael Jordan is selling the Charlotte Hornets to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall.

Michael Jordan as a player has made it to the GOAT status. But as an executive, he has some unwanted records and horrible decisions under his name. But in the end, he’s still getting a bag and claiming greats to his business side. The media though isn’t letting Michael Jordan slide away for his horrible stint as the Charlotte Hornets owner.

Nick Wright on “First Things First,” thrashed Michael Jordan for being the worst owner in the league. The analyst showed no mercy to MJ. He started off by giving him credit for his greats and then went on to rip him apart for his ownership run. While doing so Nick Wright quoted: “My entire life. When we have talked about Michale Jordan, the greatest player ever. Part of the story has been about the shoes and made the bald head cool… It’s not the biggest part, but it’s been part of the story. The mystique of Jordan that even if someone ends up being better, they won’t have all of these things.”

Further, Nick Wright discussing how it would have been a different story if Michael Jordan was great in the front office too. He added: “Furthermore, I would posit this: If Michael Jordan’s run as an owner was dynastic. If it was awesome. If Jordan went from on the court to in the front office, and they reeled off championships, people would be like, ‘See, look at him; that’s one of the reasons he’s the GOAT. Everything he touches turns to gold.’”

Then Nick Wright quoting the reality demanded the basketball world to pay attention to the fact that Michael Jordan is the worst owner in the league. And, if that’s not possible some of his other greats should be taken away. Wright added: “So, when his run as owner, on the court, basketball-wise, he’s the worst in the league for 15 years, it’s gotta count a little…Or we’ve gotta take the other stuff away.”

Nick Wright isn’t all wrong with his take and it makes sense to call out Michael Jordan. Under his ownership in the past decade, the team has only made some horrible decisions and drafted some busts. Charlotte Hornets have also failed to record any great post-season runs and their only great pick in the past years has been LaMelo Ball.

Michael Jordan isn’t selling away his whole stake in the franchise. And, he’ll still be around them. Also, with the deal still being finalized, MJ will be continuing to oversee the basketball operations this summer.

The NBA Draft and Free Agency are around the corner. Before going he has to pull a Last Dance moment and wisely use the No.2 overall Draft Pick the Hornets have this season.

Now the basketball world would be looking ahead for the new ownership group which also includes J. Cole. Many hope they’ll be able to do a better job compared to Michael Jordan who was a terrible executive. Before walking out with the bag he has a chance to pull off a W trade and make a statement by landing a superstar next to LaMelo Ball.
