Speaking with the Playboy Magazine before the summer Olympics in 1992, Michael Jordan had to describe how the Dream Team would dominate any opponent in the world. He asked: “Who’s going to beat us? The Japanese? The Chinese? They can’t match up to the athleticism we’re going to have on this team. Not to mention the mental advantage we’re going to have here”. Jordan further added: “It should never be close. We taught them the game of basketball. We’ve got people who have the ability and the height. We’re talking about the greatest players that play the game now and the team is the best team that’s ever been put together.” 

It was the first time Michael Jordan had a personal understanding of how many of the other great players approached the game. He gained crucial knowledge that helped him compete more successfully against the other 10 Hall of Famers and elevate his game. He took advantage of knowing more about his peers in addition to developing a closer relationship and increased respect.
