The La Gorce Country Club in Miami was a regular hangout for the NBA icon, Michael Jordan, who often indulged in recreational golf there. Typically, he’d be in relaxed attire, truly savouring his moments on the golf course. Jordan, known for his six NBA championships, always marched to the beat of his own drum, embracing a laid-back dress code for his leisure activities.
However, in a memorable incident from November 2012, Jordan’s attire raised eyebrows at the La Gorce Country Club in Miami. According to The New York Post, even the greatest basketball player in history didn’t get any special treatment when it came to wearing cargo pants, and as a result, he was permanently barred from La Gorce Country Club in Miami.
The La Gorce Country Club in Miami mandates golfers to wear a collared t-shirt and Bermuda shorts while playing. However, Jordan was never educated about the mandates. Apparently was never warned about violating the dress code. According to reports, Jordan was in the middle of his game when a country club staff member approached him, instructing him to return to the clubhouse and change into alternative pants.
His legal representative stated “Michael Jordan did wear cargo pants. He had been there many times before and had worn cargo pants previously, and had never been made aware that he was violating any dress code. This time, he was made aware of the violation on the 12th hole, and at that point. He did refuse to interrupt his game, and return to the clubhouse and change. We were not aware that he is not allowed to return to La Gorce. I guess it’s their loss.”
