Michael Jordan is one of the greatest NBA players to ever step on an NBA court. He has seen almost everything there is to basketball. But as it turns out, Michael Jordan has witnessed a couple of things outside of basketball as well. Stuntman Evel Knievel‘s friend made a recent revelation.
Knievel’s friend, Joey Battig, recalled the fateful day, Sept. 7, 1996, when rapper Tupac Shakur was shot. Battig spoke about how he was two limos behind Shakur’s limo. It was then revealed that Jordan was one limo in front of Knievel, which meant Jordan was just one limo behind Shakur when he was shot. Battig said, “Michael Jordan‘s limo was in front of us. All of a sudden we heard about six loud pops and Evel said, ‘Those are gunshots, hit the floor.” As they cruised through Vegas, Battig revealed how a gunman pulled up and shot at Shakur’s car.
Shakur’s murder went unsolved, and the case was closed. Shakur had close relationships with prominent African-American celebrities. He was an iconic figure who impacted the music world immensely. Recently, however, things have begun to heat up again about the murder.
NBA fans should be thankful that the gunman also didn’t open fire on the car behind. It could have resulted in the death of Michael Jordan, which would’ve been an extremely difficult loss to the basketball world.

Michael Jordan’s relationship with Tupac Shakur
Tupac and Mike Tyson had a close bond. However, Jordan did not have a close relationship with Shakur. Despite traveling together and moving through Vegas together, the two didn’t share a very close bond. Despite being quite similar, the two never bonded, and their relationship was merely that of acquaintances.
In fact, Shakur once publicly criticized Jordan for not being more involved with the African-American community. He was quoted saying, “You know Michael Jordan? I have never seen Michael Jordan in the ‘hood.’ Let’s see Jordan come down to the inner city, just a parking lot, and just shoot the ball with the kids. I bet you that would change their life.”
The death of Shakur was truly a great loss to the world. He was one of the most influential rappers of his time. While his case was closed, there have been fresh leads that the police have been following up on. It remains to be seen how far the case progresses this time.
