The Phoenix Suns saw a very pitiful ending to their season after being the top team to win the prize of the NBA Finals. Having broken their franchise regular season record with 64 wins and 18 losses, people were rooting for the team to make it through the conference finals and perhaps winning it all. Unfortunately it just was not their time yet.

Injuries played a major factor in their depreciated performances towards the end of their playoff run. But it seems like their opponent in the Western Conference round 2 had closely examined their weaknesses and took advantage over them to proceed to the next stage. The Dallas Mavericks took the former finalists to Game 7 where the Suns would crumble.

The Phoenix Suns had a strong start to the series taking Game 1 and 2 with Devin Booker helping them through offense. He had 30 points in Game 2 with 4 rebounds and 4 assists as well. Chris Paul scored 28 points along with 8 assists that game. The Mavs would win both their home games following the matches at Phoenix ultimately tying the series.

Luka Doncic was very determined to push through working his offensive skill. The Suns would win Game 5 dominating on defense. During their sixth matchup, Phoenix would once against rip the Mavericks on defense recording 16 steals but their offense struggled to convert shots. The same issue would translate in the elimination game as Doncic would rip the Suns with his offense. He averaged 31.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.6 assists through the playoffs and finished the series with 35 points, 10 rebounds, ad 4 assists.

Mikal Bridges made his first appearance since the unfortunate loss in Game 7 against Dallas. He spoke about how pressurizing it felt having to play at home with fans expecting them to win while the roster found it hard to follow through. He also said, “We all thought we was gonna win in Dallas (in Game 6), and then, you know, once they won because right now it’s like, even though it was home advantage, it’s like, you know better than me, like Game 7 is just up for grabs.”

“It got real scary. I remember I just looked up, I just felt they were just scoring every time,” he said. “Beside this playoffs, I don’t think I lost to them. The Suns haven’t lost to them in years so it’s just like every time we play them, ‘oh we have their number, we have their number.’ Them mother*****s got us,” he said while explaining that he was surprised the Mavericks were able to beat them at the end despite having a winning record.
