Former Boston Celtics star Robert Horry recently talked about the GOAT debate and brought up 3 names that are generally considered to be part of it. The likes of Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant have long been considered to be the three best players the league has ever seen. 

Horry, who is himself a 7-time NBA champion, won more league titles than all 3 superstars and knows a thing or two about winning. He had a simple reason for putting Jordan on the top of the list, claiming that the Chicago Bulls legend simply did not have a flaw in his game, according to a video by Basketball Archive:

MJ is one, Kobe is two and LeBron is three. I don’t think MJ had a flaw in his game. People say he couldn’t shoot 3s. However, he did not want to score 3s and he would score 3 when he wanted to.

Horry effectively claimed that while people might say Jordan had a weakness, with respect to shooting 3s, he could score 3s when he wanted. According to Horry, MJ simply did not look to score as many 3s as modern offensive players.

On the other hand, the Celtics legend said that both LeBron James and Kobe Bryant have weaknesses, which makes them rank below the Bulls great. Of course, both James and Bryant themselves saw Jordan as their obvious GOAT.

Of course, a range of former NBA stars and fans have long talked about who the GOAT might be, among some of the greatest players of all time. While Jordan wins most of the time, there is little doubt that the modern game has changed dramatically, and players are simply more offensively oriented today than during Jordan’s generation.

Hence, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James are logically expected to be better 3-point shooters than Michel Jordan. At the same time, the two have generally been on teams that absolutely demanded them to be primary scorers.

While both players were also capable of playing lockdown defense, Jordan was a defensive giant and had multiple individual honors as well. While that may as well be a result of the changing game, there is little doubt that it led to LeBron and Kobe developing a more offensively inclined game, than Michael Jordan.
