“Joel Embiid gets another MADMAN” Montrezl Harrell signs 2-year deal with Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid and Montrezl Harrell
Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers are pushing hard for the NBA Championship this time around. For which they are trying to add some meaningful, useful pieces for same. To achieve the same goal, they recently have made another ‘shrewd’ move by adding center-forward Montrezl Harrell to their roster.
Free agent Harrell signed a two-year contract on Tuesday, as per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Montrezl Harrell’s deal with the Sixers also includes a player option, but he could be very important player helping the Sixers win title in 2023 season only. Harrell’s addition is very tactical move, as he already has played under Philly’s head coach Doc Rivers at LA Clippers and is quite accustomed to his tactics. Also, Harrell will bring some toughness to Philly’s team, providing a much needed center insurance behind their franchise player Joel Embiid.
Philadelphia 76ers never tried to acquire any big man after trading for James Harden in 2022, but now with Harrell, they have young capable player who can fill in perfectly at forward-Center position or even can be effective coming off the bench. The veteran player had some offseason troubles as he was charged for Drug trafficking, which affected his free agency value.
However, the North Carolina native had marijuana trafficking charges reduced to a misdemeanor possession in a Madison County Courthouse. Now, there will be no charge on Harrell’s record after 12 months, provided he avoids further legal troubles. This will allow him to focus on the ball game.

How Harrell can help Joel Embiid and Philadelphia 76ers in their ultimate dream?

Philadelphia 76ers is one of the oldest franchises in the league and has won 3 Finals titles so far. They had many great teams, led by superstar players of their own. They had Wilt Chamberlain delivering their 1st NBA title in 1966, while Julius wing handed them their 3rd title in 1983. Since then, there were many star studded teams with Charles Barkley (1987-92) and Allen Iverson (1996-06) leading them in the league. But they failed to deliver championship to the city.
With Joel Embiid in the side, Philadelphia looked like a contender team again, even with his “injury-laden” seasons. In 2022, they lost to Miami Heat in 6 games, with Embiid playing with injury. Embiid was regular on MVP candidate list for recent seasons, and has been very sensational for the team, but he needed a strong support cast tha would sail them through rough patch. But in 2023, Philly looks like a completely different beast, adding some more experience and ‘familiar’ players to the roster to build strong team chemistry.
New addition Montrezl Harrell played under Doc Rivers, and has seen new ceiling to his performances. He won the 2019-2020 Sixth Man of the Year, playing with the Clippers and proved to be very vital player for them in many games.
Standing at 6’7” from the ground, Harrell might look undersized for his position, but his hustle play and game IQ allows hi to win-over his opponents on numerous occasions. He could be a perfect back-up or even a supporting forward player for Joel Embiid on the court. reportedly signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.
Harrell spent his 2022 season with the Wizards and Hornets, averaging 13.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for them, with 64.5% shooting efficiency. Harrell can be seen as one of the most accomplished names on the list of veterans in the free agency, who is now a Philadelphia 76ers’ player.
With Montrezl Harrell, the Philadelphia Seventy Sixers continued their process of stacking the roster with experienced and accomplished stars like PJ Tucker, Danuel House. They also have 24-year old talented guard De’Anthony Melton as back up in back court. With such talented and balanced team, the franchise is looking to challenge for title this season.
