“If we have to play without Brook, next man up” Monty Williams, Phoenix Suns prepared to fight without Devin Booker after hamstring injury scare looms
Monty Williams and Devin Booker
Monty Williams just lost his best offensive player Devin Booker because of a hamstring injury. As of now, the Phoenix Suns are going all in and against of the New Orleans Pelicans in the first-round series of the playoffs. The Phoenix Suns dominated the New Orleans Pelicans in Game 1 as Chris Paul took over late in the game when it was really needed for someone to step up. But now the series is tied at 1-1 as Monty Williams’ Devin Booker less Phoenix Suns weren’t able to hold down the New Orleans Pelicans late in the game.
The Phoenix Suns hosted the New Orleans Pelicans at Footprint Center for Game 2 of the series. It was a closely contested and head-to-head match-up between the two. But with four minutes and thirty-five seconds remaining for the third quarter to end the Suns lost Devin Booker who trying to stop a Jaxson Hayes layup got his hamstring hurt as a result of a bad landing. He went back to the locker room and later Head Coach Monty Williams revealed that he has been ruled out from Game 2. The Pelicans got lucky there as Devin Booker was the man running it all with 31 points, 1 assist, and 2 rebounds just in 25 minutes. In his absence, Brandon Ingram and the team stepped up and got the dub to make the series even. The final box score stands at 125-114 favoring the New Orleans Pelicans.
Monty Williams and his Phoenix Suns though never gave up in the match-up even though they lost their leader during the hottest quarter of the game. It was just not normal for the team to revolve play around other guys and not Devin Booker. So in the end, they were on the losing end. The head coach Monty Williams though is now ready to get the job done with or without his superstar.

Monty Williams on the Devin Booker less Phoenix Suns
Monty Williams after the game speaking about the future of the team regarding Devin Booker’s injury quoted: “If we have to play without Book, next man up.” He is ready to go for a war with the Pelicans no matter what players he has since there’s no schedule as of now for the return of Devin Booker. But surely Monty Williams will showcase his great coaching skills and build around other players so the team can advance as soon as possible by getting the easiest dubs they can.
But the injury is more concerning as there is not a lot out about it yet and everyone is well aware with the effects a hamstring injury brings. This was his second time hurting his lower body as he was out for three weeks in November due to a very similar injury. The team during that period won the most they can but now playing away in a playoff game surely changes the scenario. The New Orleans Pelicans now will be hosting the Phoenix Suns at the Smoothie King Center for Game 3 on Friday 22nd April.
