The Detroit Pistons are having a downer of a season so far. However, tonight they showed the fight against the 4th-seed New York Knicks, only for a no-call on a foul which led the Knicks to take the game in the dying seconds.

Head coach Monty Williams was livid as the no-call could have swung the game in the Pistons’ favor. He minced no words when calling out the referees for this no-call.

With the Knicks down 110-111, Jalen Brunson missed the go-ahead shot. In the ensuing jostle to claim the ball, the Pistons got their hands on it after rookie Ausar Thompson stole a pass from Donte DiVincenzo. DiVincenzo dove straight into Thompson knocking the ball loose. It was picked up by Brunson, who passed to Josh Hart for the game-winning shot.

Williams went berserk on the sidelines at the referees for not calling the foul. He made his stance clearer in the post-game press conference when he said that it was an ‘abomination’ for the referees not to call an obvious foul.

The absolute worst call of the season. No call. And enough's enough. We've done it the right way. We've called the league. We've sent in clips. We're sick of hearing the same stuff over and over again. We had a chance to win the game, and the guy dove into Ausar's legs and there was a no-call. That's an abomination. You cannot miss that in an NBA game. Period.

Monty Williams made it clear even though a referee was standing right next to the foul, he did not call when DiVincenzo dove into Ausar Thompson. Williams said that how could a referee not call that a foul in an NBA game? The last-second shot led to the Pistons losing the game 111-113.

Williams wanted a fair game called, which, as he revealed, everyone in the league has been asking for. He called the no-call the worst call of the season. He did not care that the league might fine him for calling out the officiating.

Fans feel Monty Williams is right to speak against no-call

The Detroit Pistons were on a 28-game losing streak earlier, which had fans calling for the owner to sell the team. Since then, the Pistons have shown steady improvements. Even though their record does not show it, the Pistons are 2-15 in games decided by 6 points or less. But this game against a playoff contender was in the bag. If only the referee had called the foul.

The officiating crew has since come and admitted that the foul should have been called. However, it will not change the result. And fans made sure the league heard their voices.
