With the Hawks down one, Murray swished a mid-range jumper to take the lead, with just 0.1 seconds left to closeout. The dominant performance by Murray included 44 points, 7 assists, and 7 rebounds, making 18 of his 44 field goal attempts. Post-game, Murray’s reaction to his field goal attempts was quite hilarious.

And these are games I wanna be a part of. And I still feel like I'm playing awful. I don't wanna take that many shots but I know Kobe would be proud of me.
Said Murray

The 27-year-old did have a point, as the legend, Kobe Bryant wouldn’t have given up in such a game. Although Murray did miss some important shots in overtime, he did manage to hit the dagger in the end. For Dejounte, the Mamba Mentality definitely hit at the right time. The Hawks extend their winning streak to four games, as they continue to hang on without Trae Young.

Dejounte Murray has stepped up in the absence of Young

Young played his last game on the 23rd of February. He’s been out since then with a hand injury. However, the Hawks are 10-7 without Young on the roster. Not only that, but Murray has stepped up big time in his absence. Since February, he’s averaged 26.5 points, 9 assists, and 5.4 rebounds a game while shooting 46% from the field.

Atlanta has been quite stable while having a third of their roster dealing with injuries. Murray has contributed a lot on both ends of the floor and has been efficient while doing so. With less than ten games left in the regular season, the Hawks need not worry about being eliminated from the Play-In berth.

Murray is playing his best game at a crucial time for the Hawks, and with Trae returning soon, the squad will be back in its full form. It will be interesting to see the Hawks make it out of the Play-In tournament this year.
