The Golden State Warriors showed off their championship expertise once again by defeating the Sacramento Kings in Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead. The Warriors displayed their strength on both ends of the court, led due to 31 points from Stephen Curry and 25 points from Klay Thompson. Additionally, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins put out strong efforts, contributing 21 and 20 points, respectively.
De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, and Malik Monk all scored 20 points for the Kings, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the Warriors’ well-rounded offence. The Warriors’ defence, which limited the Kings to only 46.7% field goal shooting and 29.4% from beyond the arc, was also a major contributing element in the victory.
The Warriors’ victory, according to post-game analyst Skip Bayless, was due to De’Aaron Fox of the Kings suffering a finger injury in Game 4. Bayless stated that Fox’s shooting skill had been restricted by his injury, which contributed to his team’s loss in Game 5.
The Warriors will now try to win Game 6 of the series and progress to the playoffs’ next round. The Kings’ job of forcing a Game 7 will be difficult given the way Warriors’ are currently playing.
NBA Twitter trolls Skip Bayless for comments on De’Aaron Fox’s injury
NBA Twitter was quick to react to Skip Bayless’ comments on De’Aaron Fox’s injury and its impact on the Kings’ performance in Game 5. NBA fans on Twitter rejected Bayless’ explanation and trolled him out for it. Many argued that the Warriors just outplayed the Kings and that Fox’s injury was not the game’s deciding factor.
One user wrote, “Skip Bayless must be suffering from dementia.” The Warriors won because they are the better team, not because of Fox’s injury. Another user tweeted, “Or maybe because four warrior players scored between 20 and 30 points?”
The depth and talent of the Warriors were simply too much for the Kings to handle in the end. Fox’s injury may have had a minor impact on the result of the game, but it was not the game-changing element that Bayless claimed. The Warriors will try to win Game 6 and move to the next round as the series returns to San Francisco, while the Kings will attempt to force a Game 7 and maintain their playoff aspirations.
