“He doesn’t impact winning” NBA Analyst believes LeBron James playing with Bronny is a totally premature
Rob Parker on LeBron James and Bronny James
NBA Megastar LeBron James is entering his 20th season and what is more astonishing, is that he might have a chance to play with his sons in the toughest basketball league in the world. The rarer experience could be possible as the Lakers superstar has signed 2 years extension with the franchise, highlighting his will to play till the 2025 season. By that time, his oldest son Bronny would be eligible for the draft and will be a certain NBA player with his talent. Father and son playing in the ‘same’ team would be a massive achievement, but analyst Rob Parker has a very different take on this concept.
The idea of LeBron James and Bronny, one day sharing an NBA court together is tantalizing. But time will tell if that dream, which James has been vocal about, can turn into a reality. Bronny has taken strides in his development, but he still needs to prove that he warrants being drafted or signing as a free agent. On “The Odd Couple” podcast, analyst Rob Parker said the idea is premature.
Parker said, “If you get to that point two years from now and your kid’s there, that’s great. I can understand that conversation. Hey, Bronny went to college, he had a great rookie year, freshman year. Wow, that’s exciting. You know what I mean?”
Rob Parker neutralizing the hype might have some point in his analysis, but Bronny has really improved a lot in the past couple of months. Also LeBron on any team, even at the age of 40, would make it a better contender for the title.
Rob Parker undermining LeBron James and Bronny James’ possible NBA union
LeBron James is playing at an elite level at the age of 37 and was rewarded with a massive contract extension by the Los Angeles Lakers. He has won 4 NBA titles and even was named Finals MVP in all those series. He played in 3 different franchises and won at least 1 NBA title for each of them. Though his Los Angeles Lakers couldn’t make it to the 2022 postseason, LeBron personally had one of the best seasons after his early days in the league.
With this, LBJ seems all set to play for another 3-4 seasons in NBA and his older son Bronny would also be part of the league during that time. Bronny, meanwhile, will continue to get recruited by colleges, even though there’s been speculation about the next step of his basketball career. He is getting better and better with every game he is playing and he is even learning from his 4-time Champion father.
The concept of LeBron with his son in the game would be a great experience, but analyst Rob Parker sees a huge flaw in the idea. He said, “And, now, maybe it’s a chance of it, but, like putting it in the atmosphere to try to sell it to some owner or some bad franchise who’s like, ‘I’ll take LeBron. I know he’s played 24 years now, or 23 years, and he’s not the same player and he doesn’t impact winning, but I’ll sell tickets and it will drive Bronny.’ That’s what it sounds like to me.”
He even added, “It just sounds totally premature, totally prefabricated, totally pipe dream, reality kind of thing more so than something that eventually could happen. And if it does, that’s different. You just said it: Bronny’s like the 30th or 40th best player in the country.”
The earliest the two could play together would be in 2024. So, there’s still a long way to go before teams can pencil him in as a potential draft selection, and also for Bronny to keep on improving and prove Parker wrong.
