“Now Chef has come closer to matching King’s legacy” NBA Analyst has 4-time NBA champions Stephen Curry and LeBron James in the same club of greatness
LeBron James and Stephen Curry
When Steph Curry joined the Golden State Warriors in the NBA in 2009, only a few could’ve predicted what was to come next, going into his 13th season with the Warriors Curry has outdone all his teammates with his performance, in his 6th season with the warriors , Curry led the warriors to their first championship after 1975 and got elected has the MVP in the regular season as well since then the sky has been the limit for the 4-time NBA champion.
After the conclusion of the last season, Steph Curry’s fourth NBA title and first finals MVP award have moved him closer to LeBron James in terms of accomplishments. According to NBA commentator Richard Jefferson, the Golden State Warriors guard is on the verge of emulating James’ history but not his consistency. Curry guided the Warriors to their fourth championship in eight years. With Kevin Durant departing the squad in 2019, many questioned if the team could achieve such heights without the forward
Stephen Curry’s latest NBA season with the Warriors
The All-Star guard received his first NBA Finals MVP award for his contributions in the series. With that, he joined a select club of athletes whose accomplishments have been extraordinary. Jefferson, Channing Frye, and Allie Clifton addressed what it would take for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic to reach James and Curry’s level on the podcast “Road Trippin’.” During the buildup, Jefferson mentioned how Curry had won nearly everything James has won. He stated:
“Now Steph Curry has come closer to matching LeBron’s legacy, not the consistency. But Bron’s got four MVPs, Steph has two. Bron has four finals MVPs Steph now has one. They both got four championships. … When you look at Steph’s accolades, it belongs in the greatness. But you can fall a bit short if you don’t win enough. …
He further added “When Steph said, ‘What else will they say now?’ That’s because he could check another box. And that meant the only people that were in the same category as him. … Winning a finals MVP and all these scoring titles two times. Now, it’s only like six or seven players, including Bron.”
Lebron All set to take over Kareem Abdul Jabbar
Having recently extended his contract with the Lakers which will keep him at LA for at least the next 2 years and make him the richest player in the history of the NBA surpassing Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets, Lebron is all set to go off with his teammate Russell Westbrook and possibly lead Lakers to their 18th title this season. LeBron James has surpassed former Laker Karl Malone to become the NBA’s second all-time leading scorer.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, another former Laker, is up ahead. Malone finished with 36,928 points. By next year, Abdul-record Jabbar’s of 38,387 will be broken. James has officially scored more points in the regular season and playoffs than any other player in NBA history. However, the National Basketball Association considers the all-time scoring record to be for the regular season alone. As a result, Abdul-Jabbar is still the official scoring champion.
“I will not allow myself to think about it. I’ve always just played the game the way I’ve been playing it over the years, and these things have just happened organically by just going out and playing the game the right way,” James said. “Hope to accomplish that at some point in my career, but I won’t think about it too much.”
