LeBron James for the most part of this generation has been the sole player that has come close to being included in the very few members with GOAT statuses. For the most part of the last two decades, no other player has come close to matching his legacy or challenging it. But his former teammate and NBA analyst Richard Jefferson think otherwise, as he says Stephen Curry with his recent championship has entered the same sphere as LeBron.
Jefferson on Road Trippin discussed the two saying, “ When we’re looking at other players and those two, its just the attention the attention they get, the fans, the jersey sells and then its those f*ckers delivering.” He claimed, “ Now Stephen Curry has come to matching Lebron James legacy with Bron having 4 MVPs Curry has 2, Bron has 4 Finals MVP now Steph has 1 and both of them having 4 championships.When you look at Steph’s accolades, it belongs in the greatness. But you can fall a bit short if you don’t win enough.” With a bold take on the Podcast, jefferson argued that Curry has matched up to Bron’s legacy and the two are set apart from other stars like Giannis, Jokic or Luka.
Curry a Part of The GOAT debate?
Jefferson on the same podcast discussed how Curry has proven everyone wrong and has answered every question pitted against him, “When Steph said, ‘What else will they say now?’ That’s because he could check another box. And that meant the only people that were in the same category as him. … Winning a finals MVP and all these scoring titles two times. Now, it’s only like six or seven players, including Bron.”
Stephen Curry is one of the most transcendental players to ever play the sport, he has revolutionized the 3-point shot and is an inspiration to many. With breaking many records and being a multiple-time champion and record-holder he has cemented his legacy as one of the best and by the time his career is over his reach will have been unmatchable.
The previous season has been Steph’s best up till now. He finally became the player with the most 3-pointers made and led the Warriors to another championship after two disappointing seasons while also winning his first final’s MVP. With the impressive season many critics and analysts started the discussion that he now belongs in the Top 10 greatest of all time.
And while it may be deservedly so, a lot of people still do not him worthy yet to be included in the GOAT debate, citing how for the championships he had help or how while he is still a great player he isn’t a perfect overall player. With many years for Steph still left in the league, we will need to see what he has achieved after he hangs up his jersey. And with the Warriors, coming off a great run, They ar a team to be feared as they are on their way for another 2-peat.
