“Give him the ball on every possession” NBA Analyst on Lakers’ expectation labelled with LeBron James for upcoming season
Zach Lowe entrusts his faith in Lebron James for next season
LeBron James has had an illustrious career made out of poster dunks, buzzer beaters and pretty applaud-worthy attacking prowess, and now he is returning to the Drew League to showcase his skills and flex his plays. The Los Angeles Lakers star-studded team not making into the playoffs was and has been one of the biggest talking points in and around the world of NBA, as they now try and make amends with the new coach Darvin Ham.
With One of the All-Time Greats, Lebron James himself, and two future Hall of Famers in Anthony Davis and freshly traded, Russell Westbrook, the Lakers looked scary on paper, not so much on court. The legendary Laker is now putting up a show with his good friend, DeMar DeRozan in the Drew League prior to the start of the league season.
Lebron has had a stressful season with people questioning him over and over again, as the Lakers underperformed drastically. They started the season poorly and didn’t seem to take games seriously until after the All-Star break. There seemed to be a lack of urgency among the players in general, with all the injuries, they never developed any rhythm.
Hence, blowing off some steam in the Drew League is not a bad idea, as the 38 year old looks to have a much better season than last year. With multiple speculations around his time at the Lakers, We’ve got to wait a few months to know whether the 4x Champ stays and gets another attempt for the Lakers’ 18th title or he gets traded. The Lakers have a proud winning history, but that desire to always be in contention may have just backfired after the 2021-22 season that saw them miss the playoffs.

The Lakers have a proud winning history, but that desire to always be in contention may have just backfired after the 2021-22 season that saw them miss the playoffs. It’s already the second time in four years since LeBron arrived that they failed to make it to the postseason, and until they bring in some drastic changes, they aren’t gonna make it next year too.
The NBA Today team discussed Ham’s comments in a recent segment of the show. Zach Lowe feels that LeBron James needs to have the ball more next season, he still believes that Lebron has more basketball left in him to deliver.
” I kind of want LeBron to have the ball basically all the time, every possession, run the show. What Darvin said about rebounding, boxing out, all the tough gritty stuff is important. I think the Lakers as currently constructed they gonna need to dial in on all that stuff, with all their guys, not just Lebron, that’s about everybody because their depth is again a little but suspect. As far as LeBron his role changing at all, he’s still gonna be the maestro and they need him to be the maestro cause they don’t got another maestro near his level.” Lowe explained
Lebron James played a big role in building this team and he got exactly what he wanted, he got involved in personnel decisions last year, favoring Westbrook over DeMar DeRozan. The whole Russell Westbrook trade is still a giant head-scratcher. The Lakers had a pretty solid bench that was traded away for Westbrook. General Manager Rob Pelinka appeased Lebron James by getting Russel Westbrook and trading away Kuzma and KCP, which added to their problems even more.

The Lakers had a drastically poor record of 33-49 , as they move on from this nightmarish season , they will have to make plenty of moves to get back on track. As LeBron gets ready for the upcoming season, the team will have to give him more reinforcements to bring back the legacy of the Lakers. Moreover, he has to solve the disparities between him, the coach and the management to ensure a smooth season where they can steer the Lakers ship towards a potential title.
