“They have to protect the sacred cow” NBA Analyst slams NBA 2k23 ratings as Michael Jordan excels LeBron and Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant
The storyline of Kevin Durant is possibly one of the most dramatic ones in the NBA. The recent off season antics had a lot of criticism as well as exchanges in words between himself, his peers and experts of the game. Legends went as far as calling him a literal failure for his alleged inability to lead a team.
The Brooklyn Nets suffered during free agency because of his decision to quit the roster. Not only that, but they were worried about the situation surrounding Kyrie Irving as keeping him was a risky choice to make. Either way, both players have agreed to work it out for the upcoming season with Irving potentially on his last year with them.
Kevin Durant calls out NBA 2K for his unfair rating
Kevin Durant was incredible last season averaging 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists per game. This happened to be one of better seasons statistically especially since he had to carry the team during Irving’s absence. However strong he was, his playoff record was not as effective after getting swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round.
The Nets came up short on defense which damaged their chances of qualifying further into the playoffs. The NBA2K franchise usually takes such things into consideration while giving each player their rating on the game. KD was not very happy being tied for 2nd with five other stars including Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokic and LeBron James.
The former 2x Champion voiced his disappointment via Twitter tagging 2K curator Ronnie Singh. “Aye @Ronnie2K I’m gonna need an explanation on why I’m not a 99? This has become laughable,” he said. Ronnie replied to his tweet in a sarcastic manner saying he was filing a petition to replace Michael Jordan with KD on the cover of the game. Analyst Nick Wright had a theory to put forth on why Kevin Durant did not receive his desired rating
“I love 2K. I’m in the game. But they were a little cowardly with the rankings this year. Because they put LeBron, KD, Steph, Embiid, and one other person I forget, Jokic. But they put all five of those guys tied at 96. And then Giannis at 97 because Giannis is the best player in the league. Giannis should be, but why are they all bunched up like that? And the answer is because they have to protect the sacred cow that is Michael Jeffrey Jordan. He’s on the cover, so he’s a 99.”
