Before Ben Simmons made his formal debut on Wednesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers had already seen what he looked like in a Brooklyn Nets uniform. Simmons geared up for his first time since the 2021 NBA Playoffs and began at point guard for Brooklyn when the Sixers opened their preseason against the Nets at the Barclays Center a few weeks ago.

The Brooklyn Nets were defeated 130-108 at home by the New Orleans Pelicans in their season-opening Wednesday night. Nets standout Ben Simmons made his club debut in the lopsided defeat. It did not go well, to put it simply. Simmons played 23 minutes and ended with four points, five rebounds, five assists, three turnovers, and six fouls. Unfortunately, Simmons got fouled out in his first game as a Net.

However, The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Toronto Raptors in their first regular-season game on Friday night. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were the night’s top performers. Fans have been lured to Ben Simmons once more after his debut. Simmons has undoubtedly underperformed in Nets colors thus far, and fans reacted online when Simmons appeared to give up a chance in the game, reminiscent of a moment from his Philadelphia 76ers days.

Ben Simmons did something during the second quarter of the Brooklyn Nets vs. Toronto Raptors game that may have been one of the night’s highlights, but he had something else on his mind. Simmons dribbled between the defenders and was in position for a spectacular dunk when he passed the ball to Nic Claxton. Claxton then attempted a sledgehammer dunk.

Ben Simmons was speedy and enthusiastic during his 32 minutes on the court, but his performance appeared to disappoint supporters. He finished with 6 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. Fans online however appeared to dislike the play, believing Simmons should have dunked it himself. On Twitter, NBA on ESPN released a video of the event with the description, “Ben in his bag tonight.” Here are some of the NBA Twitter reactions:
