“Making profit off the haters” NBA fans react to billionaire athlete LeBron James files a patent for “Shut Up and Dribble” phrase
LeBron James is arguably one of the biggest stars on the planet even outside of the borders of sports. He has had tremendous influence over many people and also players of today’s NBA. He has always stood up for human rights and equality towards the African American community in the United States. Besides being a leader on the court, he is also a front runner for socio-political and humanitarian issues in his own way.
The Los Angeles Lakers forward has been a strong voice of opinion in society. A few years ago, prior to the massive Golden State Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers finals showdown, LBJ and Kevin Durant were interviewed by Uninterrupted. They shared their opinions on being one a high platform in society and about the former President Donald Trump. Most of their opinions were against the business mogul turned politician but it was purely based on the history between the black community and him.
Fox News reporter Laura Ingraham asks NBA players to stick to sports
One man’s opinions are restricted to him unless others choose to agree to it. Following LeBron James and KD’s comments on the Trump administration, Fox News reporter Laura Ingraham lashed out against them on a live broadcast. The reporter did not like what the two athletes opinionated and asked them to stay in their field of expertise.
“It’s always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million to bounce a ball. LeBron and Kevin, you’re great players, but no one voted for you. Millions elected Trump to be their coach so keep the political commentary to yourself or as someone once said, ‘Shut Up and Dribble,’” she said.

Ingraham’s words stirred a lot of controversy for saying athletes did not get to share their opinions. Shortly after that, she agreed on live television that people are allowed to have opinions, which did not set well with many. Recently, LeBron James decided to trademark the “Shut Up and dribble” phrase for Uninterrupted, which he co-founded. Here are a couple of fans reactions to his decisions.
