“He’s not joking around next season” NBA Fans react to Donovan Mitchell destroying the rim with a thunderous dunk

Utah Jazz, after a series of failed attempts to win their 1st ever NBA title in the league, is now moving into a complete rebuilding mode. After trading Rudy Gobert, Jazz has put their star Donovan Mitchell in the market as per the latest reports. Though there has not been any smoke around his possible trade, Donavan has just showcased his capabilities, in case people have forgotten him. A clip of Mitchell playing some pick-up basketball during an offseason training session is currently making its rounds on social media. On one particular play, the Jazz All-Star decided to throw one down with a bit of authority.

Donovan Mitchell has been in the news after the Utah Jazz made it clear that they were looking for a potential trade partner for their cornerstone superstar. There are no constructive rumors around that trade, but Tuesday’s play by the young star might just fasten the process a bit.

The power of his two-handed tomahawk dunk caused the backboard to literally misalign. The game was stopped and they even had to bring out a ladder to re-adjust the backboard. Practice or NBA game, the 25-year-old star is not backing down in any case.

Uncertainty over Donovan Mitchell and Utah Jazz’s future

Drafted as the 13th overall pick in 2017, New York-born Donovan Mitchell remained an essential piece of Utah Jazz’s plans. In just 5-seasons career he made it to 3 All-Star games and played in every postseason with the Jazz. But unfortunately, things didn’t pan out as expected. Strong in the regular season, the Jazz team crumbled in the postseason in all 5 of those playoffs. With Mitchell on the team, Jazz managed to win only 2 playoff series and never made it to the conference Finals.

But shooting guard Donovan Mitchell is not the one to be blamed. He did average 26 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists per game for the Jazz in 39 playoff games, way better than his regular season performances. So, Utah is now looking to build a new young team in search of their 1st NBA Championship.

Jazz shopping for Mitchell was not much of a shocker after the Gobert trade, but not many teams have shown heavy interest in the young budding star. Now his dunk in the video might tempt a handful of teams in the NBA. Not only is he a show-stopper, but 2018 Dunk champion Mitchell has also proven through the years that he is a bona fide superstar that can have a significant impact on the outcome of any game.

We will get to see what lies ahead for the Jazz and Donovan Mitchell, but right now fans are enjoying his monster dunk, to say the least,
