The reports that Los Angeles Lakers denied trading Talen Horton-Tucker for Kyle Lowry have been going around for quite a time now. Miami Heat settled for Victor Oladipo, and the 76ers seemed to have settled for George Hill. Following the footsteps, LA Lakers also kept Talen to themselves. But now they have landed another star in exchange and probably regret their decision. Many NBA fans around the globe made fun of this decision of the Lakers and mocked them for not acquiring Kyle Lowry. As they now signed Patrick Beverley for the 2022-2023 season.
LA Lakers could have easily traded Dennis Schroder and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to come to terms with Kyle Lowry’s salary. On the other hand, Miami Heat could have been tempted to trade Kyle Lowry for Talen-Horton Tucker and a future first-round pick. But this seems to have not convinced the Laker’s front office. Tucker is an all-around player but lacks experience compared to Kyle Lowry, an impressive and smart player who could have easily fit in the Laker’s starting line-up.
Journalists Bill Oram and John Buha of ‘The Athletic’ quoted that, “Multiple sources told The Athletic that the Lakers and Raptors discussed a trade that would have sent both members of Los Angeles’ starting backcourt, Dennis Schröder and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and likely some draft compensation to Toronto for Lowry. Throughout Thursday morning, sources said, the sticking point was the inclusion of Talen Horton-Tucker.” They further added, “The same sources said that, Rob Pelinka, the Lakers’ vice president of basketball operations, insisted that price was too high for the 35-year-old Lowry, and that he was not willing to trade Horton-Tucker, the 20-year-old combo guard who has emerged as a valuable rotation player for the Lakers in his second season.”

The decision of the Lakers not to let go of their defensive player, Talen Horton-Tucker, has gathered mixed reactions from NBA fans around the world.
