“Did you watch Michael Jordan in the first 6 years of his career” NBA insider believes Luka Doncic will fulfil his championship caliber after finding his ‘Scottie Pippen’ soon

Luka Doncic needing a ‘Scottie Pippen’ has been talked about for a while in the NBA Community now. Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said in January, earlier this year, “Luka Doncic is like a young Michael Jordan, and just needs the right pieces around him to win a championship.” Jason is not undermining Jordan’s legacy or taking a shot at him. He does, in fact, raise a fair point, Michael Jordan wasn’t able to win a championship until Scottie Pippen joined the Bulls.
Once he did, who can forget the legendary Chicago Bulls team during the 90’s that dominated the league for an entire decade, like never before. Michael Jordan won 6 Rings during that era but even the ‘Greatest Of All Time’ could not have done it, all on his own.

Luka Doncic has been compared to Michael Jordan multiple times throughout his young career. There is no doubt that Jordan was spectacular individually but in the postseason, his Chicago Bulls team failed to get past the finish line due to lack of physical players to live up to the rhythm of the entire game, much like Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks.
“You look at Michael Jordan when he was young, tried to beat Detroit Pistons by himself and couldn’t do it. Then he a running mate and made it simple. When the great ones make it easy and simple, it becomes fun. You can see that with Luka.” James Kidd believes it is only time that Luka finds his ‘Scottie Pippen’ and once he does he might be able to live up to the potential he has.
“Luka Doncic will get his Pippen, eventually”

Jason McIntyre has recently penned his views on Twitter about Luka Doncic performing spectacularly losing out against the Phoenix Suns. The Mavericks still lack not having the physicality and strategies, to close out big games. He referred to MJ’s years as a rookie in the league when Jordan eventually won his first championship in 1991, 7 years after he was drafted into the NBA.
Jordan required the presence of Scottie Pippen to accomplish that. Introduction of Pippen made it from the ‘Chicago Bull’ to Chicago ‘Bulls’, a name that struck fear in every opponents mind. Jason believes its only time before a ‘Pippen’ comes to Dallas making it a ‘Maverick Dou’, with Luka Doncic.

Scottie Pippen was asked in 2019 about Luka Doncic’s comparison with Michael Jordan to which he sarcastically replied “He got six titles yet?”. Doncic himself feels stats don’t reveal entire the whole story when comparing the likes of others to Jordan.

“There are a lot of stats going on … I think it’s a little bit too much [about] stats. You can’t compare anybody to Michael Jordan. He’s one of a kind. Those are just stats.”– Luka Doncic
Doncic has shown glimpses of that style of play and may prove to have Jordan-esque elements to his gameplay, but until he sustains his current numbers for over a decade or more, wins multiple championships, terrorizes the league individually and as a team only then it will put him on the table as arguably the greatest player of all time, something to reckon with.
