“Utah never gave them a chance” NBA Insider reveals how Jazz ‘PLAYED’ against Knicks on botched Donovan Mitchell trade

New York Knicks got clowned once again and this time it’s done by Utah Jazz as they didn’t really give them fair opportunities to acquire Donovan Mitchell. The Jazz made it very clear that they are rebuilding after they traded away Rudy Gobert to Minnesota Timberwolves and made an unsaid statement about nobody being untouchable on the roster. They were testing Donovan Mitchell in the market since the start of the offseason. Many teams even showed interest in acquiring him like Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets. But New York Knicks were the front runner and now they got played as Spida yesterday got traded away to Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers acquiring Donovan Mitchell from the Utah Jazz was very unexpected and has sent some serious shockwaves around the league. It was a blockbuster trade where in exchange for Donovan Mitchell the Jazz acquired Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji and Collin Sexton along with three unprotected first-round picks (2025, 2027 and 2029) and two pick swaps (2026, 2028) from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Both the teams are happy with the exchange even though the road for Jazz now looks tough but none of it matters until they get back into the business.

The offseason has been good so far, obviously, not the New York Knicks as the fans out there once again got played like every other time. Donovan Mitchell to New York looked like a done deal but it never happened and now they have ended up building a “Mid Three” with RJ Barrett, Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson. The franchise didn’t really improve a bit but ended up committing more than $300 million to their franchise stars who don’t really deserve that according to the fans. Recently Adrian Wojnarowski also revealed how they didn’t really get another chance to acquire Spida after they were holding back in a negotiable deal with the Jazz.

Adrian Wojnarowski reveals how the Knicks got played by Jazz to acquire Donovan Mitchell

Adrian Wojnarowski revealing the interesting story quoted: “I do think New York expected they would circle back, and they never got another chance with Utah. Utah did not go back to them on Thursday and say, ‘Hey, we’ve got this offer from Cleveland. Do you want to top it?’ In their mind, when New York walked on Monday, that was it. They had a deal with Cleveland that they just did, agreed to it. And New York found out after that Mitchell deal was already agreed to, that he was on his way to Cleveland, and Utah was not circling back with New York to give them a chance to top the deal.”

Honestly, it’s isn’t the Jazz who played the Knicks but they ended up playing themselves. As they had the assets to easily acquire Donovan Mitchell in a fair trade but they just didn’t do that and were holding back all the time to be on the advantageous side. But that’s not how things in the NBA work. So they are paying the right and deserved price now while Spida who was interested rolls with Cleveland Cavaliers.
