“Steph wants to win a fifth championship” NBA Insider reveals how Stephen Curry has contacted Kevin Durant for a potential reunion

Kevin Durant has had mixed experience at a newly-formed Brooklyn Nets and on 30th June 2022 he seemed to have enough. Simultaneously the news of KD requesting a trade away went viral. But after 2 weeks of the waiting game, everyone is looking at reigning Champions Golden State Warriors to reunite with their 2xFinals MVP. Well, people hoping for the same might be in luck, as an NBA insider quoted that Stephen Curry has reached out to Kevin Durant several times for a possible reunion.

Back in 2016 when KD decided to join forces with Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, it was labeled as one of the weakest moves by any NBA superstar. He did win back-to-back championships with the team and could have completed the three-peat also.

But after leaving GSW, KD has not had great success and is on the move again. As per many reports and rumors of him joining many elite teams, the Warriors are considered a prime contender for his services again. Previously, it was considered nothing but a rumor, but now things have changed if we go by the news.

According to an NBA insider, reigning Finals MVP and Golden State Warriors’ marquee player Steph Curry has contacted KD several times in hopes of a reunion. Additionally, the insider believes that Curry wants that reunion to have a shot at winning the fifth NBA Championship of his career. That would put him ahead of LeBron James’ in the number of rings, who also has 4 Championships, the most among the active players in the league.

Ric Bucher of Fox Sports is reporting that Steph Curry has reached out to KD several times about a reunion: “A league source says Curry has reached out several times to Durant, eager to improve his chances of winning a fifth championship and surpassing LeBron James.” #dubnation

Will Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant succeed again with Golden State Warriors?

Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are a lethal combination that many have experienced earlier. They are of the same age (34) and have won 6 scoring titles in 14 seasons played in the league. And if we deduct their rookie years, that would be nearly 6-out-of-12 scoring titles among the two megastars. That is a massive offensive firing from any pair of teammates.

If 2-time-Finals MVP Kevin Durant and reigning Finals MVP Stephen Curry were to reunite, it would once again cause a lot of drama in the league. But as many times it turned out that rumor hasn’t appeared out of thin air. NBA insider Brian Windhorst also revealed something similar to the KD-Steph reunion rumor.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said that legitimate sources tell him the Warriors are discussing a KD reunion. He also says Curry has not shut down the idea and points out Joe Lacob did not shut it down when asked on The Athletic podcast last week.

Here’s what Curry publically said about a possible reunion with KD “The rumor mill and all that stuff is part of the nature of the NBA and league. You take it for what it is. You know how quickly things can change, but I like where we’re at.”

Golden State Warriors have the required assets to acquire Kevin Durant at this hour, but will they sacrifice their future for the next 3-4 years of dominance is the question. Adding KD to the original core would make no major difference to the Warriors’ credentials, and they can also add role players for support.

Considering the fact that the Warriors just won a ring without Kevin Durant this season, it could have a very negative impact on the legacies of Curry and co. But again there is a flip side to this consideration that, the Dubs can nearly guarantee a ring in coming seasons.
