Recently, the U.S. military shot down a military surveillance balloon that traveled in American airspace. According to the reports, the balloon was directed by the Chinese military and was highly capable of collecting electronic communications. NBA legend Charles Barkley ripped the Chinese government for the intrusion into US airspace, trying to get information.
Criticizing the Chinese government, Barkley said that it was obvious that the US government would take notice of the Chinese spy balloon sniffing around. “I don’t know what the hell y’all were thinking that we weren’t gonna notice that big a** balloon. Y’all cannot be sending balloon over here, trying to sniff around. We’re gonna notice,” the Phoenix Suns legend said. Later, the Chinese government claimed that the balloon had flown into US airspace by accident. “If you are gonna lie and say it just got blown by the wind, you probably should let us know, don’t let it fly all across the United States,” added Barkley.
US surveillance planes photographed the balloon floating above the ground. Its visible equipment, including antennas, “was clearly for intelligence surveillance and inconsistent with the equipment on board weather balloons,” the State Department said. They refuted the Chinese government’s claim that the balloon was a civilian meteorological unit that had veered off course.
Charles Barkley says Michael Jordan was furious with him after Bobcats comments
Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley’s friendship was one of the best in the league for as long as it lasted. Their closeness transcended above and beyond the domain of basketball. They had numerous battles against each other on the NBA court and sometimes on the golf course. Recalling the fight and Jordan’s last words, Barkley said, “He called me and the last thing I heard was ‘Motherf—-er, f— you. You’re supposed to be my boy.’ I said ‘Man, I gotta do my job.’ We haven’t spoken since that night.”
Barkley described Jordan as his “best friend at the time,” before their falling out. “I love the guy and miss the guy, but I gotta do my job,” the NBA on TNT analyst explained, adding, “I think I’m fair to everybody.” Barkley has said before that he misses his friendship with the Bulls legend and still loves him. He added that he had a job to do, and that required him to speak the truth. The NBA legend allegedly questioned Jordan’s management of the Charlotte Bobcats (now the Charlotte Hornets).
