The Miami Heat are on fire in the Eastern Conference Finals, winning their second straight game over the Boston Celtics on Friday night. The Heat erased a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter and pulled away with a 111-105 victory, thanks to Jimmy Butler’s clutch performance.
Butler scored 27 points, eight rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks and took over the game in the final minutes. He also had a tense exchange with Celtics’ Grant Williams, who fouled him hard on a layup and then tried to get in his face. Williams, who had a rough night with nine points and three fouls, was quickly taken out of the game by coach Joe Mazzulla. He did not make any positive impact for the Celtics and was clearly outplayed by Butler.
Butler’s dominance and Williams’ antics caught the attention of other NBA players, who mocked the Celtics player for messing with the wrong guy.
Draymond Green, who is known for his trash talk, tweeted after the game, “Gotta know when to talk and to who…Jimmy cookin Grant. And now he out lol”
Donovan Mitchell, who had an impressive season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, also tweeted, “Don’t poke the bear” with a laughing emoji.
Willams’ teammate Jaylen Brown when asked, “Did Grant Williams make a mistake poking the bear with Jimmy Butler?” didn’t seem too interested in answering the question and just said, “Next Question.”

Butler and Williams spoke about their confrontation after the game, and both players showed some respect for each other.
“I think he said something and I just responded… I’m not gonna run away from it… For me, it’s a matter of understanding that, yeah he did ‘poke a bear’ … I respect him as a motherf*cking player.” Williams said.
“It makes me key in a lot more and it pushes that will that I have to win a lot more. It makes me smile… I do respect him… I just don’t know if I’m the best person to talk to.” Butler said.
The Celtics are now in a big hole in the series, trailing 2-0 to the Heat. They will need to bounce back in Game 3 on Sunday night in Miami if they want to avoid falling into an insurmountable deficit. The Celtics have shown some flashes of brilliance in both games but have failed to execute down the stretch.
The Celtics will need to find a way to slow down Butler and his supporting cast while also getting more consistent production from their own stars. Jayson Tatum had 34 points and eight assists in Game 2 but shot 3-of-10 from the deep. Brown had 16 points and four rebounds and also missed six of his seven three-pointers attempted.
The Celtics have shown that they can compete with the Heat, but they will need to play with more urgency and discipline in Game 3 if they want to keep their championship hopes alive. The Heat, on the other hand, will look to maintain their momentum and put the Celtics on the brink of elimination.
