“So eager to pull out the race card!” – NBA Twitter BASHES Angel Reese for bringing racial angle post her thumping win over Caitlin Clark

The women’s national collegiate championship game gave birth to a controversy that’s been trending for a while now. On Sunday, April 2, Louisiana State University defeated the University of Iowa and won the NCAA women’s college basketball national championship. Angel Reese of Louisiana was awarded the most outstanding player award, but the star player also got into a controversy. Reece went up to Caitlin Clark of Iowa and pointed to her ring finger – A gesture symbolising a championship ring.

Her taunt ignited criticisms from haters about her lack of “class.” Many NBA players supported Reese, but she was primarily on the receiving end of trolls and criticism. Reese, speaking to ESPN defended her actions saying “I want to take on that role of being the Black woman that’s going to stand up for the girls that may not have a voice. … I don’t care what anybody has to say about me. I love who I am. … I’m authentically me.” She was criticised heavily for playing the race card and here are some of the comments that slammed Reese.

Reese, however, had a year to remember and took home multiple accolades including the National Championship and the Most Outstanding Player, while being named into the All-American first team unanimously.
