“It’s GAME OVER for LA Lakers” NBA Twitter reacts to John Wall joining Kawhi Leonard, Clippers

After completing the necessary buyout formalities with the Houston Rockets, veteran point guard John Wall intends to join forces with Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers. Fans of the Clippers may celebrate some good news, as Wall intends to join their squad. While the Rockets tried to trade Wall last year, the former All-Star point guard did not participate in any games. When that proved to be difficult, the two parties changed course and agreed to a buyout. Wall will therefore forfeit $6.5 million of the $47.4 million owing to him in order to sign with the Clippers.

While a number of organisations, including the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Clippers, expressed interest in Wall, the former superstar already knew where he wanted to go. The guard has gained a lot of attention on social media due to his aspirations to move to Los Angeles to join Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The Rockets and Wall mutually decided that the veteran guard would not play for Houston in the early stages of a rebuilding season, instead the Rockets gave rookie guards Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green first priority.

Clippers going all in for the championship after adding John Wall?

Since April 23, 2021, John Wall hasn’t played in a game. In his final game, a home defeat to the LA Clippers, he scored 27 points and dished out 13 assists while playing for the Houston Rockets. In 40 games with the Rockets in 2020–21, Wall averaged 20.6 points and 6.9 assists, proving that he was still capable of playing at a high level despite missing the previous season and a half due to heel surgery and an Achilles tendon tear. He participated in practises and sat on the bench for games throughout a portion of last season with the Rockets, and he trained alone in Miami for the remainder of the time.

With Kawhi Leonard returning after missing the 2021–22 season while rehabbing from a partly torn ACL in his right knee, Wall would meet the Clippers’ need for a playmaker on a team with championship expectations. Wall has career averages of 19.1 points and 9.1 assists. The Clippers finished 42-40 and were eliminated from the play-in game last season, Reggie Jackson was the team’s starting point guard. If Wall is healthy, he is still near to the age when most athletes reach their optimum performance. Houston, which is currently in the process of rebuilding, might not have been able to benefit from it, but the Clippers can with the aspiration of winning a championship.
