“All Manchester United requires is a winning culture” NBA Twitter reacts to LeBron James taking about ‘winning mentality’ with Marcus Rashford

Lebron James exchanges thoughts on the need of a winning culture in teams

LeBron James has had an illustrious career made out of poster dunks, buzzer beaters and pretty applaud-worthy attacking prowess, something Marcus Rashford, the Manchester United star would love to learn from the legend himself. Los Angeles Lakers star-studded team not making into the playoffs was and has been one of the biggest talking points in and around the world of NBA. With One of the All-Time Greats, Lebron James himself, and two future Hall of Famers in Anthony Davis and freshly traded, Russell Westbrook, the Lakers looked scary on paper, not so much on court.

Lebron has had a stressful season with people questioning him over and over again, as the Lakers underperformed drastically. They started the season poorly and didn’t seem to take games seriously until after the All-Star break. There seemed to be a lack of urgency among the players in general, with all the injuries, they never developed any rhythm.

It’s literally the gateway to being successful over a long period of time” – Lebron James sits with Marcus Rashford to discuss the culture of teams in sports

James has been in the league for almost two decades. He has seen the highs and lows of various franchises and he knows what it takes to win championships. LeBron believes a “losing culture” will always hamper teams from being successful. He added that the caliber of the player or coach can only take the team so far.

In the recent episode of ‘The Shop‘, James had European football club Manchester United’s star forward Marcus Rashford and actor Daniel Kaluuya alongside his regular cast, as they discussed the importance of having “culture” in an organization. Football star Marcus Rashford spoke about the downfall of Manchester United and how once the influential figure of Sir Alex Ferguson left the club, it all went haywire. James agreed with the fact that culture can make or break a team.

Both James and Rashford are the stars of historically gigantic teams, and both Lakers and United haven’t been even close to their reputation for a considerable amount of time now. Manchester United are going through pandemonium, as are the Lakers. The Red Devils from England failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, after a horrendous season far below expectations, even with the recruitment of the Portuguese stalwart Cristiano Ronaldo, among many others. This led to the conclusion about just how important culture and traditions in a a team are.

“Definitely culture first, and then if you can blend that with the talent and the right pieces, it’s literally the gateway to being successful over a long period of time. You can have guys that come from different clubs and different teams, and they’ve played losing basketball for years. You can have Jordan, Shaq, Allen Iverson, and Jesus Christ can be their coach, they’re gonna lose. It’s literally, like the culture.” James explained, and very well so. Cultural change doesn’t need a plethora of superstars, it just needs somebody like him and intent from the organization to start being a winning team, championships come along the way.

The Lakers had a drastically poor record of 33-49 , as they move on from this nightmarish season , they will have to make plenty of moves to get back on track. As LeBron gets ready for the upcoming season, the team will have to give him more reinforcements to bring back the legacy of the Lakers. This talk about culture that needs to be reinstated in the Lakers, is something that Lebron has the power to instill. Here is how the NBA Community reacted to the Marcus Rashford and Lebron James meetup.
