The NBA has named five finalists for the 2022-23 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award. The finalists include Warriors star Stephen Curry, Suns star Chris Paul, Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr., Spurs guard Tre Jones, and Celtics forward Grant Williams. The award recognizes players who have made significant contributions to social justice causes and have demonstrated a commitment to promoting social change.
The award winner will be announced during the Conference Finals and will receive a $100,000 donation from the NBA for a social justice organization of their choosing. All five finalists have been recognized for their efforts to promote social justice and equality, both on and off the court.
Grizzlies star Ja Morant, who has been involved in controversy off the court, was not named as a finalist for the 2022-23 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award. Morant has been suspended in the past for his actions, including an incident where he showed a gun on his Instagram Live.
NBA Twitter trolls Ja Morant following Social Justice Champion award snub

Recently, a new video has surfaced on the internet showing Morant appearing to flash a gun on his friend’s Instagram Live. The video has raised concerns among fans and the NBA community, and some have criticized Morant for his behavior.
Despite not being named a finalist for the 2022-23 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award, Morant has been receiving attention on NBA Twitter, but not for the right reasons.
It is important for players to be role models and champions for change as the NBA promotes social justice and equality. The NBA community is dedicated to encouraging social change and having a positive impact on the globe, even though the actions of a few players may diminish the progress that has been made.
