The NBA playoffs are going strong, with teams fiercely contesting in the first-round series. While most games have been tight, with teams bouncing back to tie the series, some have been rather one-sided. Game two between the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks has developed to be one of them. With Boston playing at home, the current runners-ups are having a tough time with Atlanta as they now lead the series 2-0. The Hawks are visibly struggling, especially with Trae Young in a shooting drought.

The Boston crowd saw their home team take a commanding victory over the visitors. Jayson Tatum led the scoring for the Celtics as he put up 29 points, whereas Derrick White put up an impressive 26 points. For the Hawks, Dejounte Murray stood up to the mighty Celtics and equaled Tatum’s 29 points. Although Young put up a fighting 24 points, his shooting record has been disappointing. The guard shot 9-22 for field goals and 2-8 for three-pointers. The Celtics finished the game with the scores of 106-119 at the end of regulation.

Trae Young has been one of Atlanta’s front-running players for the past few seasons. Despite his lack of a huge amount of experience, he’s played exceptionally and has been a prolific scorer. Young’s shooting skills have stunned the NBA world as many have even compared him to Stephen Curry. However, in recent games, the Hawks guard has seemed to struggle to find the net.

Twitter isn’t known to be kind toward players going through a rough patch. Young isn’t an exception, either. With fans raging due to a 2-0 deficit, Trae Young has been under scrutiny because of his shooting. Critics have started calling him overrated after his disappointing performances in the last few games. Here’s what some of the comments after the Celtics game are:

Many have started to claim that Young was never an impactful player. Fans have started to recall his game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. While some say that he showed immense talent then, many have said that his great playoff performance came against a ‘mediocre team’ and that it’s not a testament to Young’s impactful gameplay.

The Hawks guard spoke to the press in a post-game press conference about his recent form. “I didn’t play my best today, and I know I will going forward. I’m not worried,” he said when asked about his game. Young also mentioned that he is confident about playing better at home. “Usually you get an extra boost. Looking forward to getting back home and getting some rest and play in front of our fans,” he said, talking about looking forward to the home games.
