NBA can soon change the whole dynamics of its games schedule as the league is about to launch a mid season tournament. Recently, Shams Charania shocked the entire world by dropping updates on the NBA in-season tournament which has been on the discussion table for some good months now. The insider revealed that the league and NBPA are working on it together and gave away some major updates which have stunned the fans around the globe.
The NBA aims at beginning the in-season tournament by the 2023-24 season and right now with players around the league they are working on a frame work with mutual understanding. The fans though have mixed reactions for it as some are bashing down Adam Silver since he announced the idea of having such a tournament with trophies in the past season. And, many are also riding with him as that’s nothing but just more competitive and closely contested basketball in NBA.
The scenario is very similar to what happened when the NBA first announced the play-in tournaments. But now fans are liking it and are thankful for the addition as the deserving pieces make it to the postseason. The same can happen for the in-season tournament too and the league won’t hurry up in launching that as it’s all in the talking stage yet with the framework being under construction.
According to Shams Charania, currently, the framework of NBA’s in-season tournament has cup games in November and 8 teams will be advancing to the single elimination tournament and the final for it will be played in December. The rest of the 22 teams will be continuing their regular season while the mid season tournament takes place.
All these games will be a part of the normal 82-game schedule NBA is running on for decades and only the teams making it to the finals will have to play one extra game. The advancing eight teams will also get to be determined prizes and that’s a bit confusing as many hint the prizes to be just for the teams which make it to the finals. The framework isn’t done and clear yet but time will keep making the picture clearer and till then we just have takes by the fans and Mark Cuban who wants no part of it.
