“LeBron jumps higher at 38” – Netizens unimpressed with Giannis Antetokounmpo’s tip-in basket against the Nuggets

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s combination of his genetics, wingspan and athleticism have earned him the title of ‘Greek Freak’. He has used the aforementioned to the fullest and has produced several rim-rocking slams and ridiculous rejections. Fans have often mocked him for lacking an offensive bag by calling him a “Run and Dunk” player- as coined by James Harden in 2020. But the comments have been unable to hinder Antetokounmpo’s play style. Antetokounmpo, with the same play style, led the Milwaukee Bucks to a Championship in 2021 and earned Finals MVP honours.

In yesterday’s game against the Denver Nuggets, Khris Middleton threw up a nearly-uncatchable lob in the second quarter with 9:20 left. Giannis made good use of his Wingspan and skied to the rim, and tipped the ball into the basket instead of dunking it. Fans were unimpressed with Giannis for not dunking it and classically drew comparisons with a prime LeBron James. James in his first stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers headlined the highlight reel on a daily basis with his ferocious dunks and athletic blocks.

Antetokounmpo has been having his best season statistically, averaging 31 points and 11 rebounds per game. He is placed third in the NBA’s MVP Ladder dominated by big men. The Milwaukee Bucks have the best record in the league with 53 wins. The 2021 champions have already sealed a playoff spot and will look to stay healthy in order to make a deep run.
