“No response for him” Nets have spoken to all teams regarding Kevin Durant

Brooklyn Nets and Kevin Durant are said to be working out on the stalemate faced in recent months. Nets are said to have gone to every probable franchise for Durant’s trade, but nothing seems to materialize so far. KD has still not softened his stance on his future with the Nets and in a recent meeting with the Owners, he made it very clear. As per the Athletics’ reports, KD seeks to move or wants GM Sean Marks and Head coach Steve Nash fired from the organization. The proposal was shocking, just like his trade request. Though Owner Joe Tsai has shown support to the coaching staff and front office, the burden is on owner Joe Tsai to formulate a game plan for the same.

A meeting between Kevin Durant and Tsai was held in London on Saturday and sources described the discussion as transparent and professional. Interestingly the meeting took place a year to the day that Durant agreed to a four-year, $198 million contract extension with the Nets.

The trade request was made on 30th June, and Brooklyn Nets have shopped him all around the league since then. They had their valuation for Slim Reaper, but the price is considered to be very high; fending away nearly all the suitors from the trade. The outcome of the recent meeting would force the Nets to lower the value in order to make trade feasible if they decide to stick with their off-court staff.

In 2019, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant joined hands at Brooklyn Nets. The move received high praises and put the Nets in a commanding position for the Title. 2-time NBA Champion played in two full seasons for the Nets following his season-ending injury at the Warriors. He averaged 28.5 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists per game for the Nets, shooting above 50% from the field. But in the two seasons that he has played for Brooklyn, they have won just one playoff series.

James Harden’s small stint at Brooklyn, Kyrie Irving’s uncertain situation with the franchise, and the seemingly uncontrolled environment at the locker room pushed KD to the limits. And after a series of unfortunate events in Brooklyn, KD is looking for a change of scenario. Now after the meet, the Nets must have got direct knowledge of the reasons behind Durant’s request. And if the Nets are talking with so many teams, it means that they are at least open to the idea of trading KD after failing to live up to the hype.

After the meet, teams would re-consider making move for 12-time All-Star. Three teams are still considered to be the “most significant candidates” to acquire Kevin Durant – Eastern competitors Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat, and Boston Celtics.

Celtics were close to landing their “missing piece” after losing the 2022 NBA finals against Golden State Warriors. Reporter Charania specifically mentioned that Boston’s supposed package centered around All-Star forward Jaylen Brown is still seen as a “viable deal.” However, the package was sent back by the Nets prior to Saturday’s meeting. The Nets were asking for Brown, point guard Marcus Smart, multiple picks, and potentially one more rotation player in the deal, which might get the green light with some minute changes in the package.

We might have to follow up the trade for Durant, until it gets done and dusted, but one thing is for sure from the request and meet is that Durant-Nets have reached breaking point, and it would be beneficial if they part ways right now, before it gets any ugly.
