Brooklyn Nets registered their third win on Friday against Washington Wizards with the highest margin of the season. Amidst the storm of controversy, the win against the Wizards came at a time when Nets Needed it the most. Acting head coach for the Nets Jacque Vaughn was all praise for the team for keeping it together when nothing is going right for them. 

Speaking to the media in the post-game interview Vaughn highlighted the factors that stood out in the game. When asked how they came together as a team effort, Vaughn said, “on each end of the floor, offensively the 32 assists really stand out… and defensively the second half with 29 points (allowed) really stood out.” Jacque Vaugh was all praise for Kevin Durant who almost had a triple-double with a game-high 11 assists in the game.

Despite the Nets struggling with hyped-up media attention amidst the controversy circling around the team they came out strong and determined in the game. Jacque Vaughn spoke this morning about the team’s ‘mental toughness’ going into the game. He said, “we talked about really having a choice, being able to support each other with our feelings, with our effort,” he added, “we showed we were there for each other tonight.”

It was a good offensive night for coach Jacque Vaughn and the Nets. The team shot 50% from beyond the arc, 55% field goal, and they were perfect from the free throw line. The Nets also took care of the ball well turning over only 7 times in all 48 minutes. 7 players from the Nets scored in double figures. Overall the Nets had a perfect game against the Wizards on Friday.

Brooklyn Nets under their acting head coach Jacque Vaughn completely dominated the Washington Wizards on Friday. Both offensively and defensively the Nets outplayed the Wizards for their 3rd win of the season. Kevin Durant had 28 points, 11 assists and 9 rebounds. ”Kevin was a hub for us tonight – really put them in tough binds,” Nets acting head coach Jacque Vaughn said. ”He was a willing passer and he capitalized when he had the opportunities to,” he added.

The win against the Wizards should divert some attention from the controversy going around the team since this week. Expressing his joy, after the game Nets owner Joe Tsai tweeted, ”Let’s put the joy back in basketball.The Nets do have a good offensive lineup but their defense has simply been bad this season. Friday’s win must give their intensity a new push for further games. 

This week has been turbulent for the Nets (3-6) which fired coach Steve Nash on Tuesday and suspended Irving on Thursday. As the Nets played on Friday, Nike announced that it had ended its partnership with Irving as a result of Irving’s posting of a link to an antisemitic piece.
