Chris Paul said he knows the expectations that come from adding a player of KD's caliber and he was not putting any pressure on the team.

So far in his career, Chris Paul has been teammates with some of the best stars in the league. Playing with Blake Griffin, James Harden, and Devin Booker, he has had a chance to win a championship with two different teams. However, luck has not been in his favor, most recently with the Houston Rockets and then the Suns. Now, that a player of Kevin Durant caliber has joined the Phoenix Suns, there is nothing but championship hope from the team, and Paul understands that.

Durant’s trade to the Suns was one of the biggest trade deals of the season, immediately making them title contenders. While the Point God is still trying to wrap his head around the fact that KD is on the Suns’ bench, he is not taking it lightly. “I was telling [Devin Booker] the other day, I played with a lot of great players. Got a chance to play with Blake [Griffin]…James [Harden],  probably never two guys of this caliber, as far as Devin and KD…not taking it for granted. I told [Booker] not to,” Paul said

While it is true that Durant’s trade is still so fresh, it is hard for NBA fans to digest the fact that KD is no more in Brooklyn. Despite everything Phoenix has, the 12 x All-Star player knows that his team has to go through a lot of adjustments. They cannot take a chance, since the trade was made in the mid-season and the roaster needs to gel together. “It’s going to be a process,” Chris Paul said. However, neither KD nor Booker needs the ball all time in their hands to score and that would make it easy for the team.

In his 18th NBA season, Paul, 37, said that he has been in this position before. Multiple times, he had multiple guys playing on a high level. However, he was happy with the fact that KD, Booker, and Durant love to play basketball at a high level and have immense love for the game.

Here is what Paul had to say: “I think…the thing that I appreciate the most is just knowing…I know how much [Durant] loves the game of basketball. And the same thing with Book. So just that appreciation for knowing how, above all this, they just love hoopin’ like myself, I think that’s a good feeling.”

The Suns’ guard also knows that putting championship hope this early when KD has arrived would be a huge mistake. Any unnecessary pressure could run the chemistry in the team and so, CP3 was very careful with his words. He said that though it is a high-caliber team, they also need to figure out certain aspects of their game. “Listen, adding anybody of that caliber, you’re like, ‘Well, damn,’” Paul said, before going on to add, “So I think for us, it’s just about figuring it out.”
