“Next LeBron” – Colin Cowherd FORESEES Victor Wembanyama in the league of legends ahead of 2023 NBA draft
Colin Cowherd points out Victor Wembanyama's greatness and how there's no buzz about NBA Draft Lottery.
Victor Wembanyama and Colin Cowherd
Colin Cowherd has made his way back to the NBA headlines and the reasons are his recent takes on the NBA Draft Lottery and the greatest NBA prospect, Victor Wembanyama. Colin Cowherd is riding with the French star and has high hopes for him. But at the same time, he’s also disappointed with the little to no buzz for the Draft Lottery, which will decide which team will land the generational talent.
Colin Cowherd on his podcast, “The Here with Colin Cowherd” had a monologue explaining how it’s supposed to be a big night because of the NBA Draft Lottery and not just the series opener of the Western Conference Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets. While doing so Colin Cowherd went on to quote, “Tonight should be a massive night in the NBA, not just Lakers-Nuggets that’s obviously is the key story. But tonight is the ping-pong lottery. And, we will discover who gets the greatest NBA prospect.”
Further, Colin Cowherd added: “Kinda that Magic Johnson class, Kareem class, LeBron James class. Now that’s what they are saying about the young man Victor Wembanyama. They are saying he’s that good. Should be a huge buzz about it. And, I am sure as an NBA die-hard there isn’t… Why are we not talking about the next Magic, the next Kareem, the next LeBron he’s in that class.”
Colin Cowherd believes there are two reasons why fans are not hyped about the NBA Draft Lottery, which will decide who lands Victor Wembanyama. The first is that the NBA does not support college basketball truly, and the second is the mad rush to get everyone in the NBA paid.
Colin Cowherd wants the NBA to truly support college basketball so more international players can show off their talent. The host pointed out that the league is just letting teenagers in and paying them, who later turn out to be like Ja Morant.

Colin Cowherd claims NBA views college basketball as an enemy
Colin Cowherd believes the NBA views college basketball as an enemy and has marginalized its brands for years. During his monologue on the podcast, he compared NBA and NFL drafts and showcased how NFL prospects are better than NBA prospects. As they have been on campus and entered the league as men, while the NBA has teens who are emotionally unstable and immature getting picked at the top and having no good success for years.
Colin Cowherd also compared the 60s, 70s, and 80s top picks and how they led their teams to success way earlier compared to now. As those legends came from college and knew how it’s done. Somewhere, he isn’t wrong in saying that, as the NBA will soon be reducing the age for draft eligibility, which will have more teenagers roll in. And, the teams would be drafting high next year again, as such prospects won’t be able to carry them.
Colin Cowherd even gave examples of Paolo Banchero and Cade Cunningham as the Pistons and Magic are still struggling and will again be drafting high. In just some hours we will know where Victor Wembanyama will head for his NBA career as the less-hyped NBA Draft Lottery is tonight.
