“What Bron is doing, I would do exactly the same” Nick Wright approves of LeBron James’ plan of recruiting sons to NBA
Nick Wright talks about LeBron James hand in Bronny James' inclusion in NBA
LeBron James extended his stay in Hollywood by signing an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers for at least two more years. It will be certain that the King will be planning for the 2025 season as his extended contract will kick off in 2023. Interestingly, it would be the exact time when his older son Bronny would be eligible for the NBA Draft. This means that he will have a chance to potentially team up with his son, Bronny James, maybe at the Lakers or another team, depending on the pick he got selected on. LeBron has a player option in his final contracted season, allowing him to switch loyalties if the Lakers fail to land Bronny.
The megastar has shown incredible longevity and capabilities of high-end performances even at the 37-year age. With his form and conditioning, he could dominate the league for a few more years. However, 4-time NBA Champion sets an ultimate goal to team up with his son – a rare feat to achieve.
His current social media postings and public comments about his desire to play with his son were taunted as his desperate attempts to up the value and pick for his Son. Nick Wright believes there is nothing wrong with what James is doing. The NBA analyst talked about and even supports James’ attempts on his “What’s Wright? With Nick Wright.” Podcast.
Nick said, “I’m gonna try to be very clear because I think it’s so obvious what LeBron is doing. And you can say it’s bad, it is exactly what I would do if I were in his position. In a very different version, it’s what I have done in his position in my field. Leverage his own power to try to get his kid foot in the door somewhere he otherwise wouldn’t have the chance.”
Nick Wright gave examples of Stephen Curry and Giannis Antetokounmpo who also has their siblings in the league, slightly underachievers than their megastar brothers. Nick Wright argued that Seth Curry has gotten a lot of chances in the NBA thanks to his brother Steph Curry, and eventually he became a great role player for his teams.
Similarly, Giannis Antetokounmpo has done many things for his 3 brothers Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex, to keep them in the league. So Nick considers that it’s ok that megastars would use their influence to benefit their family members. Similar to those examples, James will use his power and influence to get his sons into the NBA.

LeBron James is waiting on Bronny James’ entry into the league.
LeBron James has achieved so much in his 19-season career in the league. He is a 4-time NBA champion, league MVP, and Finals MVP too. He is 3rd on the list for making 10 finals appearances, just behind Celtics greats Bill Russell (12) and Sam Jones (11). He certainly has a very hall of fame career, with the Top scorer benchmark just around the corner. So Current generation GOAT has very little to prove and achieve in t NBA. But playing with his Son would be an extra motivational factor that is keeping LBJ going deep in the years.
If everything goes according to plan, Bronny James will be eligible for the 2024 draft. Though he is not rated as one of the top prospects yet, he’s still very young and improving his game under LeBron’s guidance too.
As mentioned earlier, LeBron James’ contract extension will keep him in LA Lakers until 2025. However, it’s important to note that the four-time NBA champion has a player option in the final year of his contract. In other words, he could terminate the contract in 2024, which seems a more likely situation.
When Bronny is eligible for the draft and enters the league, James will be 39. Considering that he is still performing at an elite level, it won’t be surprising if we see the “James pair” in the same team.
