“It is possible we might overvalue a guy’s youth” Nick Wright believes Celtics’ simplest trade offer for Kevin Durant is $25 Million star

Nick Wright is back in the headlines as he added another of his odd and hot take to the rumors of Kevin Durant soon getting shipped to Boston Celtics. The Celtics have unexpectedly been a front runner in the race of acquiring Kevin Durant and it’s all very unexpected. As recently the C’s offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and some future draft picks for Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets. But the offers got rejected and was countered with the addition of DPOY Marcus Smart which of course didn’t go right with the Celtics. Many now believe that the deal is dead. But Nick Wright has added a totally different take to it as he thinks shipping Jayson Tatum across may land KD in Boston.

Jayson Tatum is a future superstar as his performance and impact are loud enough for everyone to hear in the league. While Kevin Durant is a generational talent, one of the greatest scorers of the game and most importantly a superstar in today’s league. The deal won’t sound fair to many due to the age gap between the two main players around whom a package would be built. But Nick Wright recently got it very clear as he came up with the best possible explanation for running this particular trade down. But again the decision is totally up to the two franchises involved and if they want to run something they should surely look into Nick Wright’s advice.

Nick Wright on Jayson Tatum being the perfect fit for an exchange which can land Kevin Durant

Nick Wright giving his views on a Jayson Tatum for Kevin Durant trade quoted: “I think Brown plus ‘Time-Lord’ [Robert Williams] and three picks might get it done…So I think maybe this trade gets done at some point. The simple trade is Kevin Durant for Jayson Tatum. Now, because of salaries, you’d have to throw in like, Grant Williams and Sam Hauser but it would essentially be one for one no picks you know what I mean. Hour for hour, a budding superstar for your current superstar. We get the better player you get the longer runway…Tatum is one of the ten guys I wouldn’t trade for KD because of the age.”

Further Nick Wright also gave a solid explanation and solution for the age thing as he quoted: “Bill Simmons kept saying, ‘I’m not trading 15 years of Player X for 3 years of Kevin Durant.’ Here’s why I am bringing it up. 15 years of Player X is not a thing anymore… Jayson Tatum has got three years left in his contract and I am not saying he’ll demand a trade. In today’s NBA, with the player mobility, and the guys demanding trade within contracts, moving around, is it possible we are overvaluing a guy’s youth. Because the assumption had been, ‘Well his career will be spent in one place. Says who? It might be that the Celtics would have KD for the next three years [or] Tatum for the next three years, and then he leaves. So who would you rather have?”

Nick Wright’s take makes sense and is quite understandable. As it isn’t about the next 15 years but the prime three years both the individuals can give to a franchise. So age won’t be much of a question but injuries surely are and those can’t be stopped or controlled so listing them during trade talks happens but they don’t make any sense and still are a part of the system. So it’s fair to say that a Jayson Tatum and Kevin Durant exchange can work but their loyalty towards the teams will play a very important role in such situations.
