When spoken of the future of NBA, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is one player who is never missed. Since the age of 16 he has shown the potential that he holds. Nick Wright feels he will the GOAT one day. Travelling to USA and playing on greatest stage of Basketball, Luka has managed to win the hearts of all. Be it the game play of the Slovanian or his mischievous character, he has managed to put a smile on the face of us NBA fans.

Nick Wright’s claims might seem quite exaggerated to some but valid to many others. There is one fact clear in the discussion and that is, Luka Doncic is disproportionately talented for his age. Age 16, winning championships against grown me. Age 18, wins the MVP of the playoffs in the 2nd best basketball league in the world. Age 19, in his very first playoff game, Luka bags the ‘most points scored in playoff debut’. To follow it up, he drills a buzzer beater 3 pointer to win the game.

In the words of Nick Wright, ‘Luka gets better when the stakes are higher’. There would be little to no argument for that regard. Luka has always manage to astound the league and its fans by showing how much more he holds in himself. Luka Doncic, undoubtedly, is a great player and a future MVP. He is surely is the future of the league.
But one aspect that we fans tend to forget, or rather get carries away, while discussing Luka is that the keyword in the arguments and discussions is ‘future’. Luka is still a young player. At age 23, he currently is in his 3rd playoff season. He lacks the much needed experience. Luka led Dallas Mavericks lost a 2-0 lead last year, after coming to Dallas. It is Luka’s first playoff victory after 16 games and 3 playoff series.
For a player like Luka, he can achieve greatness or be in the discussion only when he understands how to use his talent and when to use it. For that, he needs experience. A couple more years in the league and with the experience, there is no doubt in the fact that Luka will be in MVP discussion.
As for Nick Wright, if his take does prove to be true, it will arguably go down as one of the best takes in the history. In the words of Nick, ‘History is going to judge this take fairly’.
