Nick Wright reveals how he doesn’t blame Kevin Durant for getting p***ed at Draymond Green’s comments

Nick Wright talks about the Jibs shot between Kevin Durant and Draymond Green

Draymond Green in his interview with Colin Cowherd shared his views on the amount of defense Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant faced during their Championship-winning seasons, which Durant later challenged feeling disrespected. Nick Wright put forward his views on the same.

Colin Cowherd had one of his favorite stars Draymond Green as a guest on his famous Podcast. Outspoken former DPOY and Colin spoke on many topics and one of them was of course Kevin Durant and his time with the Golden State Warriors. Green responded that Kevin Durant is a great player, but it was Stephen Curry who attracted most of the defense from the opposition, which made the game easier for the finals MVP Durant. Durant, feeling irked by the comment expressed his disagreement on Twitter, which later turned into a Twitter war. Sports analyst Nick Wright pointed out some key aspects of Green’s comments and believes that Durant has all the right to feel offended by that comment.

Draymond Green’s comments weren’t well-received by his former teammate, as Durant publically thrashed them with a firm reply. Negating the Green’s comets KD replied, “Oh I seen it my brethren, I appreciate the compliments but I disagree with what u said about double teams that’s all. I love the show”.

Kevin Durant joining Golden State Warriors was hugely criticized and he might even keep the track of all the critics who targeted him for his move. Durant played exceptionally well with the Warriors and led the team to their back-to-back NBA titles before injury limited him from the 3rd consecutive NBA Finals.

He then left the Warriors team and tried his chances with Brooklyn Nets and Kyrie Irvine. Though that chapter isn’t much fruitful so far for a 33-years old mega star, he still remains the elite player he once was and no one doubted his individual capabilities.

After all the seasons spent in the league, KD received a very unique comment of being given lesser importance defensively by the opposition. Interestingly it was from one of his “on-court brother” Draymond Green. Green on the Colin Cowherd podcast said that it was Stephen Curry who faced 7-times more defensive pressure from the opposition than Durant in their Finals games played together.

Durant replying negatively to the comment said that is 100% false. To which Draymond tried his best to explain the context of his comments. While Nick Wright put forward his views on the same dissecting Draymond’s comments.

Answering, who among Step and KD is responsible for the Warriors dynasty and Draymond’s comments, Nick said, “Right KD played better in those finals and deserve finals MVP, but Steph was the guy the Cavs were more concerned about right. And Steph was the guy, he deserves credit for setting his ego aside enough if you will, to welcome KD in; to not worry that KD was gonna take his glory his attention . Stephen just won unanimous MVP and had just beaten KD in a seven game series. So, Steph gets credit for all that”.

Talking about Curry’s impact on the Warriors’ offense, Nick added“The fact that they’re back here again speaks to Steph’s value. Steph just changes the geometry of the court you just have to guard so much more space with Steph out there which creates easier driving lanes, easier looks for everybody else.”

Also, Stephen Curry being the primary ball-handler and playmaker for the Warriors, opponents do give him more attention than any other Warrior on the floor. This clearly makes sense and supports Draymond’s version of the defenders doubling Steph more than KD.

On Durant’s frustration though Nick, supported the forward player by when he said, “Draymond obviously exaggerated the point and no one should undersell how good KD was in those finals.”  Durant’s presence only made difference in the Warrior’s dynamics and helped them to topple the Cavaliers team who beat them back in 2016 from 1-3 deficits. So Durant’s contribution could never be under-rated.

All being said, both team and Kevin Durant benefitted from their collaborations. Durant won 2 NBA titles and 2 deserved Finals MVP awards, while the Warriors hold off the Eastern storms using Durant’s efficiency on both ends of the floor.
