Joel Embiid is without a doubt one of the league’s top players at the moment. His reputation and ability have grown to the point that the all-time greats are now being compared to him. Since Embiid and Nikola Jokic are both still at the top of their game, it is still unclear who is superior between them. Maybe history will settle the argument. But before any history comes into play, Bill Simon has given his answer.
These days, two of the best big guys in the NBA are Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic. Unquestionably, the two stars have elevated their teams to unparalleled levels and won numerous awards on their own. Renowned sportswriter Bill Simmons recently shared his thoughts on both of them, expressing his tiredness with the constant comparisons.

Bill Simons said via The Bill Simons Podcast said,
I'm just done talking about Embiid and Jokic. I'm done talking about it anymore, I'm out! Jokic plays and he won the title and his playoff performance resumes for the age that he's at in his career is unbelievable. We cannot compare Embiid and Jokic because Embiid scored 70.
The journalist emphasized Jokic’s conscientious work ethic and his ability to stand alongside the Denver Nuggets when things counted.
Jokic’s greatest accomplishment was also helping Denver win a championship, which solidified his status as a basketball icon. Even though Embiid and Jokic are on an equal footing in the public eye, Simmons did not seem overly excited about the big man’s play for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Joel Embiid drew a lot of criticism for not playing against Nikola Jokic
In an all-time performance against the San Antonio Spurs led by Victor Wembanyama, Embiid scored 70 points on Monday. It was a blow to the record of the previous regular season MVP and the greatest score of the season until Luka Doncic’s 73 in Atlanta. A much-anticipated NBA Rivals Week showdown was the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Denver Nuggets game. Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic, two of the best players in the NBA, were scheduled to face off.

With 26 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists, Nikola Jokic helped the Denver Nuggets win 111-105. Joel Embiid has a winning record versus the former, but it’s important to remember that the latter hasn’t played in a game since November 8, 2019. Embiid has been playing in Colorado for the longest time out of all the players that have participated in at least one game this season.
The Nuggets took advantage of his absence to win, and Embiid’s extended absence jeopardizes his chances of winning MVP. He will now only be able to participate in a minimum of 32 games out of 82 to remain in the MVP race.
