The Denver Nuggets proved that they’re more than a one-man team when they won against the Detroit Pistons 131-114 at the Ball Arena, without much help from reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. This victory returned the Western Conference second-seed team to winning ways after they dropped points last time out against the Orlando Magic.

Against the Pistons, Jokic scored four points from 2/3 field goals made, seven rebounds, 16 assists, and five blocks in 25 minutes of gameplay. Jamal Murray stepped up to score 33 points, three rebounds, and four assists, ably assisted by Michael Porter Jnr., who scored 15 points, had one rebound, and created two assists.

Deviating from his usual scoring prowess, he took on the role of creator-in-chief, delivering an impressive sixteen assists in double figures. Equally astonishing was the significant number of rebounds and blocks he accumulated, surpassing the total points he contributed for the Nuggets. A true testament to the Nuggets’ depth in their roster.

Occupying the 2nd position in the Western Conference standings with a 26-12 record, the Nuggets trail just the Minnesota Timberwolves. Noteworthy this season is the Joker’s impressive average of 25.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 9.2 assists, accompanied by a remarkable field goal percentage of 56.9.

Fans react to Nikola Jokic’s performance against the Detroit Pistons

Nikola Jokic, the five-time NBA All-Star, and the 2020-21 and 2021-22 NBA Most Valuable Player, played a supporting role as his team stormed to victory on home court. The Pistons are arguably the worst team in the NBA this season with an abysmal 3-33 record.
