Nikola Jokic warned Victor Wembanyama after dunking on him.
The big European men of the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs were going head to head in the teams’ matchup on Tuesday. Both the centers, Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama gave each other tough competition. The players went back and forth on multiple plays creating excitement for the viewers.
In the matchup, Jokic decided to showcase his MVP-level skills and had an incredible dunk on the 7-footer. In the press conference, Jokic was asked if he said anything to Wemby after his impressive dunk. Jokic hilariously revealed that he warned the rookie for blocking him in the game further but Wemby did not budge.

The front runners of the MVP and ROTY races put up a masterclass by scoring a double-double each. Nikola Jokic with a game-winning 42 points and 16 rebounds and Wembanyama with a record-breaking state line of 23 points, 15 rebounds, nine blocks, and eight assists. It is safe to say that the matchup was a treat for NBA fans.
In the end, the first-seeded Denver Nuggets got the victory over the San Antonio Spurs. After the win, Wembanyama also had praise for Jokic and his incredible performance. In the press conference, the star called the encounter ‘fun’ and revealed that the performance pushed the team to make no mistakes while competing.
Gregg Popovich reveals that he doesn’t show Jokic’s game to Wembanyama
Back in November, after the Spurs matchup against the Nuggets, Victor Wembanyama revealed that he learned a lot by playing against the former MVP. Considering Jokic is one of the best centers in the league, the player can be a good role model for the rookie. However, his team’s head coach Gregg Popovich may not want that for the rookie.
Last month, after another matchup between the teams, Popovich revealed that he does not show Jokic’s footage to the young player. The HC had high praise for Jokic and believed that Wemby would not be able to match Jokic’s skill level.
I don't think anybody can do what Nikola does. I haven't shown him any Nikola tapeGregg Popovich at the post game press conference
Coach Pop is considered one of the best coaches in the history of the game. Therefore, his choice of not guiding the rookie with Jokic’s performance may be right, considering Joker’s level of talent and experience in the game. Wembanyama has to create his path and make a name of his own.
