The NBA season is finally back. After an off-season that seemingly stretched on forever and with the pre-season finally ending, the NBA regular season is once again set to start. As is the norm, ads are being aired everywhere to announce the start of the season. One such announcement stirred controversy when it was aired on National Televison.

The announcement in question was during the NBA on TNT, which said the season would begin on Tuesday. There was an image next to the announcement that showed prominent players in the league like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Jayson Tatum. These players are often shown to attract fans’ attention and increase the games’ TRP.

However, there was a notable exclusion in the image—that of Nikola Jokic. Jokic is the FMVP and the reigning NBA champion. One would think that he would be included in the advertisements.

Jokic is one of the best players in the league right now. Additionally, he actually has a match on opening day, unlike Tatum. The Denver Nuggets will be taking on the Los Angeles Lakers in the season’s first matchup.

NBA fans react to Nikola Jokic’s exclusion

Many NBA fans agreed with the exclusion of Jokic from the graphic. They said that Jokic wasn’t as marketable as the other stars and said that since the NBA is a business, they’ll do what’s best to market it.
